I took the Warn hook off and used the existing loop. This is Agency6. I looked at the Factor55 but for the money I think this does at least as good a job *and* shields the line really well.

do not cut the loop protector, the hook simply un pins from cable loop. Then you can re pin any attachment piece you want…I used a HF thimble, that covers the loop end completely.

Seems like little or no metal in the winch line is better.
That is why I went with a Yankum fairlead on a Warn Evo VR 8S. I cut the winch line just below the factory loop (it was metal) and spliced a new loop. Lots of videos on how to do it. It took me about 30 min total. I did use a Facto55 Fast Fid which made pulling the rope back through itself a lot easier!

I have a Warn Sidewinder because I didn't want any of my line exposed to UV unnecessarily and it rests pretty flat up against the fairlead. I had a Badlands/Apex thimble and It always made me think my Jeep was sucking in a pacifier (no offense intended to anyone with a thimble. It's just my weird sense of humor).

Don't lose the pin for the sidewinder. You can't get a replacement one from Warn.

Yes, I have a $150 paperweight because of that.

Got the factor 55 and shield. Got them only because of aftermarket double coupon thing that effectively gave them to me like 52% off. The fairlead was caught on clearance for like 30. Not sure if would have bought them at full retail but I like the setup

Thanks. I don’t want to mess with cutting the line and re-doing the loop. So, I’ll just use the fairlead that comes with the winch.
watch some videos from Factor 55... it's pretty simple, and it's good to know how to do it!

I did this on a Rhino USA rope. Cut off the end then did a locking brumell loop. If the uv's get to it just cut it off and do it again. Not a big deal.

That's what I had in mind to do! Nice! I thought about another option, having the end of the rope just go around the left or right side of the fairlead, if you were to groove out a little channel for it. Kinda like the Yankum one, but just a once sided deal, not necessary to have both sides, its just a rope holder and you've only got one!

I was concerned about the end being exposed to uv's all the time, but it can be trimmed easily or put a sleeve on it. The radius it's taken around the stud shouldn't be a problem either. The stud is about $12 on Amazon, so adding another is no big deal. Very simple and effective I think.
