gain an inch in tire height after taking weight off; man I didn’t think it would flex that much. I feel lot better at 34.5 I still do not like the fact they at 35 inch’s on the floor aired up and all. Next buy will be true to size.

You can actually weigh your truck using the footprint of the tire on the ground and the PSI they are inflated to because it's that air pressure that supports the truck.
PSI against times the square inches of that foot print for each tire, added together, will give you the weight of your truck.

You are pissing up a rope if you think you are going to get anything for this sudden discovery that many already know about with off road tires in general.

Dick Cepek lists that size OD at 34.5" in their spec charts and as previously mentioned is unloaded and probably at the max PSI rating.

They can name it whatever they want, they can name it a 42x12.5x17. What matters is their listed spec size which is 34.8. You get 34.5, maybe they used max 50 psi for the other .3 inches.

Just wait until you air it down to 12psi under load

Summit even lists the actual height at the 34.5 you measured. In the product spec and details on most tire sites you can find the actual nominal size.

No one is born knowing everything there is to know about tires. You aren't alone by any stretch. I've dealt with tires since I was about 15 (back in the 70s) working in a shop selling and fixing tires - and I still learn stuff every week about tires.
I had a college teacher (automotive/technology, etc.) who said it's not knowing what you know, but knowing what you don't know. He'd give partial credit on test papers if you didn't know an answer, put down you didn't know, but explain how you'd get the answer. He hated guessing.

My 35x12.5 Duratracs were around that size too but I didn't care cus they visually dwarfed my stock tires.

If you like them, if they look good on your vehicle - nothing else much matters.
Some will like them, some won't, it's what you like that matters.

I ran them once and wasn't a fan. They wore so quickly I sold them at 15k miles. They probably only had another 5k miles left at that point.

How does your truck ride with 40psi? That seems high. My 35x12.5x20 nittos measure 33.5 as well. I think some brands run smaller. I run 28-30 psi

I don't think any current tires that someone would install on a Jeep are true to size. If it makes you feel better a 2x4 isn't 2 by 4.
