Went on a little jaunt up in the mountains Sunday. Heard a clunking somewhere between where I was and where I was going. Didn't make the sound driving down the road. Got home from work just now figured I'd look around. I think I found my issue. Missing a nut on I believe it's the sway bar linkage. Drivers side bottom picture. Passenger side top picture.

Warranty that if you can. Reason being so they have record of it in case the mounting hole becomes wallowed out and it becomes a bigger problem. Pretty sure that has happened to a few people here.

Fix it yourself, get the nut from the factory if it makes a difference and put it on. Hand tight is all thats needed.

Another great poll question. I would warranty it just to have the issue on file, but it's definitely easy enough to fix on your own.

I'd throw a nut on it, drive around and see if the "clunk" is gone, then have dealer put factory nut on it, they should not beat you up on warranty if you put the nut back on to make it to dealer. If the clunk is not gone then they can fix the nut and find clunk........Jack

I would be definitely taking it to the dealership if it’s a rubicon! If it’s wallowed out and a issue with the electronic swaybar later or now… those are super expensive!!!

A lot of the front end components are almost loose from the factory. We've seen guys able to twist the ball joint nuts by hand. It's ridiculous.

Thats a diy. Think torque spec is like 40 ft-lbs. Make sure to get the correct thread pitch.

Don't know about your dealer but here they would make me wait a week to get in then charge me for nut and labor.
I would replace it myself and not worry about it. Many of us change those links anyway, i have a drawer full of those nuts from various jeeps I've owned.

Yep and add lug nuts to that as well. Mine were all basically finger tight....scary.
I wonder what bolts are supposed to be covered in the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) that is done by the selling dealer.

I remember when I worked at a Saab / Subaru dealer that lug nuts WERE on the PDI. So that's on the dealer. But we didn't check suspension bolts.

**edit. this is a 15 year old Chrysler PDI form. I wonder how much its changed.
