Frame Damage on Newly Purchased Gladiator

I understand the sentiment. OP is not overly upset or think your truck is worthless, the first cut is just always the deepest, especially when you weren't the one to make it!

This makes me curious however, what type of paint/protection is applied to the frame? Just a question I've never asked myself.

Hey guys I do understand that it’s not frame damage in the sense that it should be a write-off. To me it’s damage that should have been at least disclosed to me as there was an inspection done upon receiving the vehicle at the dealership, if this is missed, what else was missed. I live in Manitoba so no there will be no wknd trips to Moab, I just expect to receive what I paid for is all. Also I have been instructed by the dealer not to apply the fluid film at this point until they can inspect it, unfortunately we have just received our winters first snow storm.

I don't honestly believe that this even is something that needs to be disclosed. Its normal and irrelevant and easily touched up with a 20 second spritz of black spray paint.

Hello fellow jeepers. I recently purchased a brand new sting grey Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Drove it off the lot with 34km just over a week ago. The gladiator isn’t my first Jeep, I’ve had four others including a 90 Wagoneer Limited which I still drive. Today I pulled the Jeep into my garage with the intent to spray a rust protectant of fluid film on the undercarriage. Here’s what I found:

Taking the Jeep in first thing Friday morning. It looks to me that the frame was possibly moved at some point with some sort of forklift or conveying device. This is my assumption as there is no damage to any of the lower hanging parts, just these spots directly across each other on either side of the frame.

Waiting game now I suppose.

Minor scuffs that's all.

Was at the dealer today and found similar damage (scuffing) to another rubicon on their showroom floor. The scuffing is not as bad as what’s on mine and neither is the rust. I’ve talked to FCA and they have no reports prior to this. I understand that there is a multitude of different ownership personalities out there and I appreciate those that have been understanding. Know that after talking to the dealer I do feel I have been fairly compensated for the issues shown here. For all those that think you should be responsible for doing your own touch-up paint jobs to your newly purchased Jeep, believe me, you deserve better for what you’ve paid for.

I have similar marks on mine with the white water spots. Not sure what it's from, but seems to be a common issue now that I've seen this thread. I figured it will get beat to hell off-roading so I didn't think twice about it.

Sorry, but it's going to get worse in that first year. Scuffed paint on a frame isn't really even cosmetic damage. It's a frame. Here in Iowa I see that sort of thing from driving on winter roads and going over the areas where the plows aren't quite done yet. I scuffed my frame driving over a snow pile at Fleet Farm over a year ago (the snow was packed from plowing, my wife freaked when she heard the shrill scraping noise - I told here it's a TRUCK, relax)

That VHT paint NachoRuby posted about - GREAT stuff. I have it on my car's lock cylinders to make them black to match the black Jeep door handles I installed on my car. It's lasted over a year with me using a key to unlock the car.
The rust - use Extend Rust Converter after cleaning it up, let it sit 24 hours, then hit it with that VHT and it will be far far better than the factory or anything the dealer would do to make you happier.

Just a suggestion - pick your battles (easier to say than to do - ask anyone that knows me)

Hey I totally agree with you. My thought is it was scuffed on the transporter, BUT, regardless of what you may do to it in the future, it should appear as new without any scuffs anywhere. Key to this is, was there an actual work order opened for this? If it’s documented, then good as who knows how hard it may have slammed and you could use this as bait for future issues like the “Death Wobble” Kidding.
But good to have it documented. You didn’t mention the compensation. Hmmmm……?
Btw, saw on the news your first snowstorm. Waiting on ours, apparently Sunday night and Monday the JT gets her first taste here in Alberta.

I whole heartedly understand the sentiment, it might eventually look like this with normal use, but if I’m paying close to $60,000 for something brand new, I better be the one to do it.
