Brand new here...just picked up my new-to-me 2022 Gladiator High Altitude today...

Question on gas mileage: What do people expect to get? Going 75mph on the highway, without significant wind, flat ground near sea level, with A/C on, I showed average 14 MPG over 300 miles. I was expecting closer to 20. The sticker says to expect 22 highway.... Is that what others see? 15K miles on the truck

It doesn't really say to "expect" that, or anything.
Also - 75 is going to kill mpg, especially with a brick shaped tall object flying down the highway.
Tires, tire inflation, how you drive - how fast you drive, weight of the vehicle, any lift, accessories (adding weight or wind resistance) and more will kill mpg.

I have been getting almost 21 mpg average over the last 3 tanks - moderate speeds, 45-65 and some 70 mph. If I approach 75 I can watch that drop.
Highway mileage is determined by the EPA not at 75 but at much lower speeds, so when it says highway, it isn't meaning that fast, and it's not what to expect, but what's possible.

EPA highway MPG is based on 55mph

Jeep's EPA rating is based on a sport (or sport diesel, or rubicon diesel)

Drive a brick down a highway faster than 55mph on bigger wheels/tires, you're going to suffer.

My 2020 Overland regularly achieved 21mpg on highway trips. I had a tonneau cover installed when purchased, and later replaced it with a RSI Smartcap. It had the 18" wheels with street tires that I kept at 39psi cold. I packed a lot of stuff around in it. The Smartcap and roof rack added 250 pounds to the base weight.

My 2023 High Altitude doesn't do quite as well. It has 3k miles on it, and the best it has done is 19mpg on the last road trip. It has the 20" wheels with street tires, that I also keep at 39psi cold. I have a bunch of stuff in it, but haven't got the Smartcap on it yet. I will probably put the 18" Overland wheels on it. I've got a set with new Goodyear Wrangler AT tires that came off the Overland when I traded it in.

Is it lifted already? Bunch of driveway art crap bolted to it so it’s heavy? Does it idle constantly? Lots of city driving thrown in? Sea level@ 75 should net way better than that….way better. I squeeze 18 to 19 @75 but at 5K in elevation. Just came back from Salt Lake City last week and followed some dude at about 93 across the salt flats. Ended up home, climbing the entire way and still pulled off 16.5 3 hours later. That was mostly 80 with good size chuck of 93, and pulling two summits. Either we’re all missing some info here or something amiss. Mines bone azz stock Wee Willy with stock BFG MTs

My 1st tank was 14 ish mpg, gradually have gone to high 18s to low 19s over 10k miles with the 3.6 in Mojave trim. Usually have 20 mph headwinds for 1/2 of my 100 mile daily commute, 50% freeway at 75 and the rest on backroads.

As others have shared, with the 3.6 there does seem to be a break in.

My 3rd Jeep with a 3.6, the previous ones followed this pattern.

2" lift, 37s on my mojave and it will average about 16-17 mpg of I keep it at 70 or below. Bump it up to 80 and you'll see 14 for sure.

I have a stock 2023 gas job JT Freedom. On a drive to the beach about 2.5 hrs At 65mph I get about 23mph to 25mph. Depends what I Have in the bed. Average around town with short trips ,I average about 18mph. It's better than the 2012 Jeep liberty, it was 14 in town, 21 hwy at it's best. I'm happy. I think it's great MPH for what it is. A real 4 x 4 truck. What I love.

Fuel economy is subjective. We brag more about other things than fuel economy.

You bought a brick on wheels and 14 MPG is about what I would expect for the speeds you are going at. You have to drive like Grandpa to get anywhere near EPA ratings.

It only gets worst when you start adding lift, bumpers, winches, oversize tires and bedazzling it without re-gearing.

thanks... believe me I understand the aerodynamics, and am happy to accept it for what it is.... my concern was if it was grossly underperforming, there might be a technical issue that needs to be addressed under warranty.

If you click my Fuelly banner, it will show you what I get for a 70/30, HWY/CTY mix of driving on 35's and 2.5" lift with winch and bumper doing speed limit driving.

City driving really tanks the MPG's hard though in these vehicles.

Do you know if spark plugs were changed when sold to you?

For what it’s worth, I changed mine a couple weeks back at 60k kms and then on Sunday drove north 3 hours up to Edmonton (elev 2200 ft) from Calgary (elev 3400 ft) and bucked a strong head wind all the way there. Flags on poles were flapping straight out. I would have normally seen with this condition 13 - 13.5mpg while maintaining 120km/h (75mph). I saw 15 mpg and I had the wife and a Great Dane and 50 lbs of tools in the back. (The wife and dog were inside the cab)

Coming back with the tail wind, I got 19.6mpg. I would have normally seen 18mpg.

I’m having to do a trip to Vancouver Island at the end of July for a couple weeks so looking forward to seeing how it does at sea level. Moral of this story is think our plugs can foul up from what I’ve seen with mine and from what the shop forman has told me from the pentastar performance.
