My '70 340 Duster had a foot pump on the floor for the washer fluid.
I've driven a few old cars with the starter button on the floor. Maybe we should just relocate the JT/JL push to start to a more inconvenient location.

Here is crazy idea, you get with that WRX dude and you two work on something. Since for whatever reason you two are the only ones who want this. You want other people to waste their time and money researching something they clearly have no interest in nor benefits no one other than you guessed it, you two.

Lol, won't take no for an answer but also won't put in any of the leg work.

I don't know. Hyundai and Kia are being sued for being basically the only manufacturer to have no chips in the keys at all, due to the ease of theft, and how many are being stolen. I think every car I've owned 2004 or newer has had a chip. I know because it means I can't just copy my keys like on old cars.

At least with chips, in theory, a software update can help out once an exploit is found. Of course, dodge has been promising an update on the Charger/Challenger issues for a few years now.
Last year a Security Mode update came out for V8's that limits horsepower to ....2.8 Horsepower.
Update Will Limit V8 Dodge Charger, Challenger Models to 3 Horsepower — Here’s Why

This is how I used to start the actual Jeep when I was in the Army before the HMMWV replaced them.

Oh, yeah. I bet I still have the pump and lines for that type of system.

How about shifting your transmission with your feet - and I don't mean pushing the clutch pedal.......

This has been brought up before. Not sure if any solutions came about.

Found this thread (edited had wrong link before) https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...rfid-brick-has-to-go.26072/page-7#post-461260

But it seemed to turn into just a debate on push button start. I don't know if a solution came about, I'll admit I didnt read through 30+ pages of what seemed like push button start debate.

At the risk of starting such again... though I would really prefer it didn't go there... has anybody successfully removed their proximity push start for any other solution no matter how stupid it may seem?

Call me the unibomber if you like but this "tech" is extremely frustrating to me.

I would much prefer to rid my jeep of the proximity push to start button.

Just to add... there are no stupid ideas to me here, even if you suggest replacing it with a light switch... I want to hear it if you can tell me how. Also, not a lease and I will NEVER sell it.

This jeep is mine and this is about making it such. After a year of ownership and killing the AutoStartStop this is the one thing that continues to annoy me.

So... thoughts? Beyond "I like push button start."

Thanks. Love you all.

ETA: I have manual locks and dont care if I end up with 2 keys.
The nice thing about the fob is you can add as may keys as you want & not have to worry about the weight turning off the vehicle on the highway. I do think it could be smaller, it’s stupidly big. I also really like the auto stop start after getting used to it but they need to make it more reliable, mine quit working after a battery drain.

Alternatives could be Face ID like on an iPhone & ditch the start button for voice recognition. Doesn’t help you now but it may in the future.

I came up with an easy solution to the key thing.

Take a Dremel tool with a burr bit. With it, make a slot in the start button. Just deep enough not to hit anything behind it that's important. Next, flip out the key out the fob and insert into the slot you made with the dremel tool. Press in and start your Jeep with the key. Easy, peasy.

It's a kill switch but I suppose the Original Poster can figure something out with this mod. Maybe crazy glue the Push To Start button down then some how wire a key switch instead of a toggle switch ?‍♂

Serious question for the Original Poster.

I get the dislike of the Auto Start Stop but why the Push Button Start. Are you just longing for the days of leaded gasoline at 1.25/gallon? Or are you here just for the conversation.

Better idea. Use an Easy Button.

Now this is interesting. So the Original Poster likes to stick things in a slot and turn it. In that case all you have to do is stash one of your key fobs in the glove box then somehow rig a keyed switch to trip the RUN position on the push button start.

ORIGINAL POSTER'S PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Hard disagree.

The conversation has been had and op even posted a link to it.

Want a car without this feature I have a simple solution.

But one without this feature.

Problem solved.

You're welcome.
Would that "but" be with one "T" or two????

Lmao, I remember when I was the only one who couldn't stand the fob, how's mythreedom business going these days? How many of you jumped on board and ordered up new fobs? Sellouts. Anyhow...And buddy says there's only 2 of us that disagree with thin air link to starting/stopping our vehicles? ya ok bud, believe whatever you want, not everyone wants to post the obvious, first guys through the wall usually get bloody but also have thick skin so what is it...bitter you don't think of these straight forward common sense things yourselves? Lots of perfectly good vehicles out there to slap this crap on for the comfort addicted masses but for those that don't say bah bah there are perfectly good vehicles to gear towards us too. The jeeps would be about the perfect place to start, and especially the lower trim levels for those of us who want minimal tech, minimal connection to someone else's airwaves or computers etc. The sheep get mad not at what it is the wolves discuss or do but that the wolves simply don't fall in line and conform.
