I was asked by another to be Jeeper what these parts circled in green are. The picture was provided by the importing company, supposedly of a 2021 Gladiator.

@AllMoparParts.com might not have these in stock.

Gemini thinks it's a water pump housing.

Probably something environmental. Maybe they have some weird restrictions on dirty floorboard water. God forbid the swamp you drive through goes back into the environment somewhere :CWL:

Does it have air brakes? They look like air blow off valves.
Not that I can see 😅

I mean thos stickers on them also seems like something official that gets checked by some body or like the NIST that checks or certifies something

Awww, come on guys, it's so simple maybe you need a refresher course. It's a Fetzer valve.

Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads, and I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

Grok and ChatGPT think they’re trans/tcase or even diff breathers. I have no idea but I’m pretty sure it’s not any of those

That’s a good puzzle. I agree that something environmental makes sense, but they don’t seem to be attached to anything. Other than that it appears the same as any 2021 with a 3.6.

According to ChatGPT.

Those are not factory Jeep Gladiator components. They appear to be shipping or transport protective caps/plugs installed on vent tubes during overseas shipment.

Specifically:

  • The gold-colored "mushroom" shaped pieces with the blue plastic insert are very likely protective vent caps.
  • They're commonly placed over:
    • axle/differential breathers,
    • transmission/transfer case breathers,
    • or other vented driveline components during ocean transport to keep dust, water, and insects out.
  • The fact that there are two of them in different locations is consistent with multiple drivetrain vent points.

A few observations from your photo:

  • The one toward the rear/middle is mounted near the transfer case/exhaust area.
  • The one toward the front is near the engine/transmission area.
  • They don't look like sensors, filters, or emissions equipment. They also aren't part of any U.S.-spec Gladiator I've seen.
Should they stay on?

If these are indeed shipping caps:

  • No. They are usually removed during the vehicle's pre-delivery inspection before the vehicle is sold.
  • Leaving a sealed cap on a drivetrain breather could prevent proper venting as components heat up and cool down, although some shipping caps are vented.

But why are they so large for a diff/trans breather? Those are like 1/4" tubing. And it doesn't look like anything could be running to the rear one. All that is next to it is the pillow mount/carrier bearing location for the driveshaft. And also, why such a huge outlet that looks a lot like a thermostat housing/radiator hose sized connection?

Well vehicle is ordered and maybe I will get the answer from the Import company about this curiosity

tbh Chat Gemini Claude and Deepseek all had wonderfully different and curious possibilies, with many of them clearly wrong, so I am keen to learn what they are :)
