How long did your windshield last before cracking?

Funny, but looking at the crack in my windshield, I see that every time I use the defroster, the crack makes a slight turn in direction. The length of each segment is wholly dependent on how long the defroster was operating!

So far, so good. Almost a year. 11,000 miles.

Calamity averted the other day when we decided to take the Crosstrek to NC to pickup some tube doors.
We were on I 85 on the way back. There were dump trucks everywhere going down and coming back.
Got hung up in the passing lane by some of those people who take 5-10 minutes for pass a large commercial truck. The large commercial spewed a couple of golf ball sized chinks of granite gravel and one caught the windshield of the Subaru about 1/4 way up on the passenger side.
WHACK!!
Sounded like I'd fired a 22 in the car.

It nicked the glass, but no cracks.

My first thought was, "That would have wiped out the windshield on the Jeep".

Made it approximately a year in mine, closer to 11k miles before the defroster plague got mine. Hasn't yet hit an edge, and likely waiting a couple months more to replace once spring season comes around. Also, in anticipation of the next defroster break/season, bought the 5/8" plugs for the vent holes. Quite a shame, that "feature" causes so many issues for people.

Got my first rock strike yesterday. Chip on the passenger side. Gonna fox it tomorrow. Pissed me off as it was 200’ from the turn off into my sons HS.

That's how it always happens ... drove from Philly to Raleigh, NC and back and took a crack in the windshield just after crossing the state line back into PA.

My JLUR had the original windshield when I traded it in after three years. My Gladiator made it five months on the first and 9 months on the second. Waiting a month or so before replacing this one. Thank you $0 deductible glass coverage!

Not unless they make a version for the JL/JT. The one you linked is for the JK.

They do have pre order available for a JT guard but I am not planning to try it. I'm waiting another month or two before replacing my cracked windshield. For $150 to $175 for the kit vs $300 for an installed replacement glass, I'm going take my chances

Crack in the front, leak in the back. That's how we roll!
Only windows without issues seem to be the sides <knocks on wood>.

had my brand new 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport 1 month short of 10 years (and only approx 83,000 miles!) WITH the original windshield not being replaced...however i did have about 5 "pings" from various rocks! i know, i know, i am so lucky...however i have now cursed myself with my new 2023 Jeep Gladiator so stay tuned ?

Almost at the year mark here (knock on wood). The secret to my success? I don’t try to draft off trucks that are hauling gravel.?

That being said, my shit’ll be cracked tomorrow morning.?
