I think Jeep has reached for the stars when pricing the JL's and JT's. JL's are selling well but it seems discounts are easily found. The JT's are going to have more trouble because there are several mid size truck competitors and most are $10k less. I thought for sure I wanted one, but I don't know if I'll be able to pull the trigger.
I’m feeling the same way. I want to buy one, but I can get a lot more truck for that kind of money, so I’m having a lot of trouble justifying it.

The dealer next to me has 10 on the floor for MSRP, and they been there for two weeks or so. They are definitely not selling like hot cakes here in NOVA.

I'm in SoCal. Dealer had 2 last week that sold the same day. He has 7 more this week and we'll see.
Honestly though, it's way too early to make a judgement. Most of the country still doesn't even know about this truck. It usually takes a few weeks for people to see them on the road, become curious, and run to the dealers with their wallets. The other thing another poster pointed out is, this is a very specialty niche vehicle. No matter what, only a very specific type of buyer is going to want it. People looking for a real work truck are not likely to make the leap given the size limitations and the much higher price.

Also, the Rubicon spec models and Overland are just hitting dealers. For volume run rate they’ll need availabilty of Sport/Sport+ rigs in the low $30s and decent credit terms to crank up the numbers.

I thought for sure I wanted one, but the price point has me comparing it to the Ram, a full-size truck. I know I shouldn't be comparing them, but the price is almost identical. Couple that with the fact that the Gladiator doesn't offer a brake controller and can't really pull what us advertised has me thinking. I need to be able to tow a 5500 pound trailer in Florida on the turnpike where traffic starts and stops continuously. Just waiting it out in the meantime. If the gladiator could do what is advertised and was priced a little cheaper, it would be a no-brainer.
A brake controller is a hundred bucks and takes all of 5 minutes to install. If that's all that's stopping you, go for it. They're pre wired and come with a plug under the dash for it, it's literally plug and play.

So, I am super confused. In the beginning when prices came out people were bending over backwards to emphasize that the JT was only $1k over similarly optioned mid-size trucks. But now, it seems everyone is saying that full sized trucks can be had for the same price as a JT. Which is it?
There's overlap In both directions, you can easily spec any mid sized truck to cost more than a full sized truck. Comparably optioned, a full size will be a little more.
If you're comparing a Rubicon (which is where a lot of sticker shock is coming from), the comparable full sized trucks are the power wagon and raptor, both are more expensive.

I'm right there with you. I actually went out and test drove a power wagon - a cheaper option than a Rubicon for impressive off road capability in its own right. Not necessarily apples to apples, but the price point lends itself more to a fully optioned full sized truck. I've been struggling with keeping the YJ for the fun Jeep and buying a full size power wagon for the capability or downsizing to just the JT knowing that I'd only need a full size truck for the 2% of the time I've got more cargo/people/weight to pull. I've always been in the mindset that it's good to have the right tools for the job when you need them, not scramble to find the right tool at the worst time. That mentality lends itself to a full size truck with the way these JT's are priced. But it's a jeep! Nothing beats the smiles per gallon. To hell with rational thinking!

My dealer sold 5 of their allocation and then took 6 special orders last week.

As of last week I read that Jeep has taken 15000 orders for gladiators and if that's true that means the Gladiator sold more in its 1st month than the Ranger has sold since January.

I like a lot of people questioned why you would spend that much money on a midsize truck when you can get a full size truck for the same price but after looking at trucks and running the numbers I realized that the Gladiator is a better value because it will hold a lot more of its value in the future which makes it a better deal.
That's assuming you ever sell it ;). When I have my diesel in a gator green decked out like the wayout concept I plan on being buried in it. Preferably not in an avalanche or a mudslide.

I guess I'd save a bit of money on funeral expenses in the long run.

We had one in Abilene for 24 hrs. Just long enough for me to have a look at it out of detail shop before the new owner took it away. Geography might be a factor. No need for a gladiator in Chicagoland.

JLs don't seem to be selling well either and sitting. The JKs flew off of the lots. I think FCA over priced and over produced the JL and has now over priced the Gladiator.

When it comes down to it, it's a Jeep. It has solid axles, so you have the best offroad potential. It has better approach and break away angles than a standard pickup.

I don't need a full size truck. But I will be taking the top and doors off..

I was at a boat show yesterday and the dealers that were asses to me were there with the same gladiator. I talked to the nice salesman that was there and he said they only got the red one with stipulations that they take it to the boat show to show it off then after that it's for sale. I also asked what the prices are gonna be in six months or so and he agreed probably at MSRP invoice. Right now for memorial day there actually running a deal of 20% under MSRP on the Jeep Wrangler. Would love to see that on a jt later on down the road. Once the price settles and the markups end expect to see alot more sales.

I don't see them selling in my area, south western PA. One dealer who had the very first one within 100 miles of me still has it on their lot. Dealers in my area refuse to negotiate, so I hope their plan backfires. Most car dealerships finance their inventory so the longer the vehicle sits on the lot the more the dealership is losing.
