I wish they would put one of the Hurricane engines in the gladiator.

I like that the lead photo shows a Demon V8 rather than the Hurricane I6.

Really hoping the I-6 and transmission can be put into a 2021 gladiator, I would definitely do that without question and pull out my supercharged V-6 in a heartbeat. Will continue to follow this information.

havent been able to find an actual sale for the crate motor yet but the info i did com across on moparaction.com is this:

  • HurriCrate Cat 3 Twin Turbo Crate Long Block (part number: P5160622AA) is capable of delivering up to 550 horsepower and max 531 lb.-ft. of torque at just 3,500 rpm. The HurriCrate series of crate engines employs state-of-the-art engineering and technologies that include two low-inertia, high-flow turbochargers for rapid response to throttle inputs, Plasma Transfer Wire Arc (spray bore) coating in the cylinder bores for an ultra-thin, low-friction wear surface, and high-pressure direct fuel injection. MSRP: $8,995
  • HurriCrate Cat 1 Twin Turbo Crate Long Block (part number: P5160621AA) is capable of up to 420 horsepower and 468 Ib.-ft. of torque by 2,500 rpm. The all-new Direct Connection HurriCrate Long Blocks are derived from the 3.0L Hurricane twin-turbo engine. The Hurricane engine delivers more horsepower, more torque and fewer emissions than many naturally aspirated V-8 engines, offering resto-mod builders and racers a technologically advanced, high-power density crate engine solution. MSRP: $6,495

Sounds like we should have a future Cat 5 version that would be really crazy

From those prices, are we thinking this would be much cheaper to do than a v8 swap? Has it been confirmed it will fit?

But a fully integrated hemi is $32-36k

There is not support to integrate a hurricane in the JL or JTs...........and I'm highly doubtful it will fit based on the measurements I've taken......no room for a radiator or cooling.

The 3.0tt hurricane is based off from the 2.0t currently in the JLs, so that means it's 33% longer.........go take the measurements from a JL with a 2.0T........theres no space to accommodate the extra 33% length.

So not sure what the hype for a JT/JL is without modifications to the current platform which would not be cost effective unless Jeep wanted to make the Hurricane the standard motor across the board. So with that being stated, wouldn't happen til the JT/JL replacement is launched say in 2028 based on a 10 year platform upgrade/update.

Final thought as a former technician........look at that cooling hose/pipe on the back side of the block........that's at least a transmission out or maybe an engine out service to replace. I know on the Wagoneer it's a body off frame to replace. I always buy looking at simple services like that....... because at $200 an hour outside of warranty is not cheap for a $25 part

Somewhere in these forums, I did some comparisons when people said "an I6 can't fit" - granted, that was comparing a 4.0 to a hemi, but fore to aft, it wasn't a problem at all, which sort of surprised me. The length of a 4.0 pulley to bell housing mounting flange was comparable to the V8 hemi. Go figure.

Now the hurricane?

Interesting note - make believe the 4.0 is based off the AMC 258. Yeah, parts swap back and forth and so on, but it's really based off the AMC I4 engine - VAM came up with the idea, AMC poo-poo'd it, then later - we see a 4.0 with no credit going to VAM engineers.

i don't know the length of the hurricane 6 - you'd need to know mounting flange to dampener or similar.

There's a lot of stuff that's turning into body-off-frame for repairs, that's but one example according to my sales guy who watches things in the shop - and observes how often bodies get lifted off.
4xe requires body off to replace the transmission - I mention it only because I don't know about the non-4xe Wrangler situation.

Even though I would loose my shorts,, it's better to just get what the factory offers new and trade mine. I saw some U tube yesterday that made it sound like the I6-TT is a sure thing for the '25 Gladiator. I think it's just some AI at work. My 3.6 with the 4.88s is just fine.
