The problem with all of these companies that do upgrades is none of them do normal engines. I don't need or want 550+ HP in my Gladiator. I don't want to have to run Premium Gas and I don't want the range hit that 8mpg will give me. (not to mention 20K in axles)
An unmodified 5.7 Hemi or 5.3 GM would be perfect.

I'm with you, I don't need the high horsepower and the extra that goes along with making a 600hp motor work.

Bruiser Converssions list 2 versions of the 5.3, a 325 and a 400 hp swap for the JK. I'd bet a small wager they would do the same for the JL or JT if asked.

The problem I have is the LT4 swap is the same price as the 5.7l hemi. Hard to justify running the much weaker engine and in my experience the LT4 will return just as good if not better economy than the 5.7L. Sure odds are with all that extra power I'm more likely to break things, but how much more likely. I have a hard time believing that I can run it hard on 400hp but if I step it up to 550hp but run it the same there's some immediate need to replace axles and everything else. If the 5.7L was 30% cheaper and made 30% less hp then I'd lean that direction, but I've never driven anything and thought "that's too much power".

🙄 Oh hell no….. Not in my lifetime. 😆
I completely agree with you. I will NEVER own an electric vehicle, or hybrid. If one was given to me tomorrow I would sell it. Forcing people into something they do not want is against everything in me. I’m American, not a F’ing communist. Do and drive what you want, period.

I was a "never electric" person for a long time - old school, love the smell and sounds of massive V8s making crazy HP flying down the track at 180 mph. I'll always love my gassers - my classics, and the fun I have with them, the sound and feel, the ease of modifications, swapping or building engines at the drop of a hat - however....... if you tried to take away my wife's 4xe, if she didn't make cat food out of you, I might.
If the 4xe JT was out right now with that newest/latest ZF transmission with the bigger, more efficient electric drive motor - I have a feeling that might be coming to my garage soon. Our JLU 4xe is a perfect fit for our style, type of driving (my wife especially, well, it is HERS as she'll remind anyone it's HER Jeep, not mine).
And I'm an old fart - 68, grew up building fast cars, fast gas-guzzling engines, things that make noise and go fast. Still - as my son says about me - I am a pragmatist at times.
No one is forcing anyone to buy a FULL EV. Not even in California, last I heard.
But I also see the future life of my grandson in Florida - and his family, and all of the possibilities he has in front of him, my grandson and granddaughter in China........
Yup - a few years ago - I was a "never ever" person - well, the crazy performance of certain electrics that have been around for many years made me take a look, too - holy cow, instant GO as quick as you hit that pedal - and that's FACTORY.

There is no doubt that they are making fast electric vehicles with ridiculous torque. I can not deny that. They’re also making extremely fuel efficient and reliable hybrids. The main problems I see are the limited mileage (huge one with my lifestyle), especially if you’re making a long trip. The electric grid is not designed to take the load of everyone, or even a large portion of the population using electric vehicles, that’s a pipe dream. We already have rolling blackouts due to the grid not being able to withstand the high usage, especially during summer months. If you rely on a full electric car God forbid a hurricane, tornado, or any extreme event that knocks your power out for weeks happens. You can’t expect any kind of long mileage or heavy towing with them either. The 4xe works for your wife and yourself, that is outstanding. Hopefully they come out with a JT 4xe for you. I can see the benefit and agree with a hybrid way more than full electric.
The ICE has gotten better at fuel economy as well. My daughter has a Honda Fit that gets 48 mpg, which is great. On the other hand you have people like us driving vehicles with the aerodynamics of a brick getting decent mpg. My other vehicle is a dually that I use for towing. It has a diesel and gets good fuel mileage considering how much vehicle it is moving down the road.
As far as being told what to drive…yes, the last administration was going to make all new vehicle sales be electric or hybrid vehicles by 2035. I will not buy any new vehicles in the future. If I’m not mistaken, starting this model year (2025) all vehicles can be shut down remotely by the powers that be. Hell no!
I wish nothing but the best for you and your family. Don’t worry if you think the oceans are rising….if they’re rising, why do all of the politicians keep buying and building houses next to beaches? Makes no sense to me. If I KNEW the oceans were rising that would be the LAST place I would buy or build. Sorry for the long reply.

Depends on where you live....... and by the time EVs are consumed by the masses, things will be a lot different. No rolling blackouts here, we export electricity.
They are getting better and faster with repairs after major storms.
Yes, some areas are going to have problems, luckily, it won't be here. We're fine.
My son traded his 2022 EV for a 2025 and the range increased by over 100 miles between the 22 and the 25.

Didn't went through the complete thread.

But I have to admit, the LS6 was the best engine I ever had in a vehicle.

Maybe I shouldn't have sold her ...

Man I remember the early days of LS engines...those LS6 heads were THE hot thing going for stock production heads. I ported and swapped about a thousand of those things.
