The media knows little to nothing and just provides speculation. The only official information provided, so far, is the Gladiator will be built through 2028 and 2025 will have a 4xe version. The V6 is very likely the only engine option the Gladiator will have until it is redesigned or discontinued.I am trying to sort thru all the media leaks. Other than the 4Xe that has been announced are we talking a 2.0 turbo base and the turbo straight 6 in two trims?
Max Tow option isn't the only option for towing; on my recent travels I notice many JTs that are towing, and they're not the SMTs.i doubt jeep wants to give up on the JT's towing abilities. the 2.0 isn't cutting in. Especially in a platform whose towing is already limited by heat with the 3.6.
That being said... maybe they don't care about towing anymore? They have the figures on what percentage of buyers are going maxtow. If that wasn't high enough they might not care to lose that piece of the business.
We're all just speculating at this point.
I'm personally hoping for a revamp with the turbo I6 and maybe a slightly beefier transmission in the next couple of years. The media knows little to nothing and just provides speculation. If the Hurricane 6 was going in the Wrangler platform in 2025, the 392 edition would have sunsetted in 2024 as was planned. I imagine there are engineering issues to overcome, likely heat extraction relatedI am trying to sort thru all the media leaks. Keep dreaming. If they release a V8 option, please ensure that I’m buried in it after my wife kills me. Or at the very least, put my ashes in the engine oil so I can be one with itWish list:
#1 5.7 V8 with beefed up stick shift
#2 I6 with beefed up stick shift
I got my 2023 Gladiator 3.0L diesel, so I'm as happy as a pig in mud. With that said, I hope the Gladiator continues beyond 2028.the Gladiator will be built through 2028
Rubicon (7000 lbs.)Max Tow option is only option for towing; on my recent travels I notice many JTs that are towing, and they're not the SMTs.
Lots of Rubicon, Mojave, and Overland.
Them Max Tow guys act like its the only Jeep you can put a trailer behindRubicon (7000 lbs.)
Max Tow (7650 lbs.)
I wouldn’t say max tow is the only option…
This is wild. The thing was engineered during the great recession. It's painfully long in the tooth and down on power, which is as true now as it was 5 years ago. By 2030, yikes! The 3.6 Pentastar is scheduled through the end of the decade.
Still meets the requirements, all the standards it needs to, and fits all the LB/DS/JL/JT/WS/WL chassis. This is wild. The thing was engineered during the great recession. It's painfully long in the tooth and down on power, which is as true now as it was 5 years ago. By 2030, yikes!
The Pentastar has been a fairly good engine for the most part. I've seen a few make it to 500,000+ miles. It's a little gutless in the heavier platforms, but still a good engine. And like you said, it fits lots of vehicles. Unlike the EcoDiesel, the Pentastar will be cheap and easy to source parts for in the next few decades.Still meets the requirements, all the standards it needs to, and fits all the LB/DS/JL/JT/WS/WL chassis.
It's meant to be adequate, and it is adequate.
