Mine kill switch setup is kinda like a 2-step verification. Hand brake down, hit a button then start.

Layer of protection is the key.
1. Reroute horn wires and horns so they can't be cut. If they look for the horns in the standard location they are not there.
2. Drone Mobile. Can do many things. Mine is hard wired and will alert me for movement/towing/ its location/engine start and glass braking. It has its own battery back up .Most important it being hard wired and well hidden.
3. Ravelco.
4. Tazer with pin enabled and hood open. Enabled.
5. Tazer NoLimitz. The key fob can not be duplicated.
6. Viper simple alarm system. Movement/glass braking/doors open/hood or tail gate open.
All devices can be defeated put the chances of defeated all 6. Slim.
If they try to tow it all alarm's will go off and my Drone Mobile will show it location even if the jeep battery has been disconnected.
The Drone Mobile can be hidden any where in the jeep. Rear quarter panel/ behind door panels/ behind dash cluster. Any where you can get switched (key on) voltage and content voltage.
Dang. Homie is running Furiosa's truck. 😯

hello all

two days ago I was extremely fortunate to be out walking my new puppy when I saw my Jeep pass by down the street between two buildings.
fortunately it's such a bright color and so highly modified it that I recognized it out of my peripheral vision and looked up and managed to verify not only that it was in fact Nacho.Diesel but I also observed the driver and another vehicle closely following it. I immediately called 911, the officers arrived in just a few minutes and in working with some federal agencies and the power of social media, the Jeep was located and seized from the thieves just as it was entering Mexico approximately 40 minutes later.

I was asked not to add many more details as there will be legal proceedings BUT what I can say is the thieves broke out my d side window, climbed over to passenger compartment and accessed the terminal behind the glovebox to make a new key. I don't know approximately how long it took for this to happen but I do know the Jeep was seen still parked approximately 30 minutes before I saw it driving by.

I have been splitting my time since dealing with the incredible officers dealing with my situation, getting glass replaced and doing a ton of research between short anxiety filled naps where I make myself get up and go check on the Jeep. I am looking for any and all ideas on how to both electronically and mechanically deter theft.

For my own anxiety's sake and for the rest of our incredible community, please toss in ideas or any experience with things you've tried or heard about

TIA

When you get it back in running shape, my proposal for bad people stealing vehicles is simple, when you park it, simply wire a 110V extension cord to the frame and leave it with an open ground, if you live in a really tuff neighborhood, make sure before you plug the cord in, water down the entire area around the rig. This will solve most issues with car thieves.

And it’ll start on fire. Won’t be stolen, but you’ll be arrested and also have no Jeep. But fire it up, literally. Send me a link to the news story.

Edit: maybe an actual electrician could weigh in?

As was I. I actually don’t know if it would start on fire, but I suspect it’s a risk. In the old days of hood ornaments being stolen (I had a ‘78 Caddy), I always wanted to energize the ornament. I joke that I should have. It was ripped off.

If they broke the glass, why not install bulletproof glass?
Why do we hold so tightly the things of this world?

Auto-theft causes financial hardship. My buddy's 392 was stolen 5 weeks ago. Still no insurance check. The "that's what insurance is for" thing doesn't hold up. My wife's car was rear-ended December 4. It's still in the shop due to "no parts". The other guy's insurance will cover a rental right? Nope. "Coverage limits".

In 2024, the California coverage minimums:

Property damage: $5,000. The guy totalled 2 cars and caused $13.5k to my wife's. Insurance will pay $5k TOTAL split between all 3 parties. What are we going to do, sue a broke bastard who carries CA minimums? Luckily we have full coverage.

Bodily Injury: $15k per person, $30k total per accident. That's like 2 days in the hospital.

Those limits were 56 years old. They upped them in 2025 to 15k/30k/60k. LOL.

Spoke with Tazer guys.

Here is some info that will help us.

So they are working on the pedal disabled feature on the Gladiator. It will be on the future update. It works even when removed!

They sell that metal box for the Tazer but I asked them if they cut the wires to the Tazer then pin will still stop working. You would need to some how stop them from cutting the wires along with removing the Tazer. Also, they are going to added the ability that only the OEM key will work and cloned will not but again the tazer needs to be connected.

For nolimitz it's the same. If you hide it and they cant remove it they cant make the key. So decoys wiring and anything else needs to be done.

Man, this sucks. Glad you were able to get it back and mostly intact. It is insane that in this day and age people can still so easily take your car.

No one is stealing my truck and I'm not leaving guns in it. When I leave it parked, when out and about like at the beach or forest, without doors or roof, my anti theft device is an EMPTY box of ammo on the floor or seat. Always worked in my Wranglers and now my Gladiator. If you were stealing my truck and saw that would you still take the chance knowing that I might be within earshot and have a firearm in my possession?
Okay there, John Wayne… I mean that’s a false assumption an empty ammo box is a theft deterrent - unless there’s some data out there to back it up. I leave a coffee mug in the cup holder most of the time and have never had a vehicle stolen either. Theft deterrent effectiveness is probably equal. I highly doubt once your vehicle has been targeted there is anything that will deter a thief from making the attempt.

What is likely if you roll up on a thief (or thieves) in the middle of stealing your vehicle, they will have firearms. I would choose my life - and more so my family’s - rather than getting into a potentially fatal confrontation over an easily replaced object, no question about that.

Or hang a fake clutch pedal & 6 speed decal on auto shift knob….or buy a standard trans instead of an auto

Well Pee Wee, I actually drive mine a little further than Starbucks for coffee. I've left it without doors or roof in the middle of the forest many, many times. I've left it in the middle of a parking garage in many big east coast cities with the same doors and roof of off with nothing but a beat up empty box of ammo laying on the floor. Anyone hiking, fishing, shooting or just drinking beer have come across it I'm sure. Not one thing was ever taken out of it. I'm sure when they see your coffee cup at the mall it strikes fear in them though, lol! Same principal I guess.

Because all of those hikers, fishermen, and shooters are also car thieves? You’re lucky yours hasnt been targeted for theft. For that matter, I’m lucky mine hasn’t. It makes me feel good that I’ve got the actual layers of protection that I do, but if it’s targeted, it could still happen. I could line my rear seats with live rounds and they’d want it even more.

Edit: Many times it’s not even about the truck. I was at a hotel where 6 pickups were broken into. All very nice trucks. Very nice. All they wanted were guns. They took the guns and left the trucks. If they want your jeep, and also guns, expect to find it gone. In fact, as you post this on an open forum that thieves likely peruse, you might be a more likely target the more you post about firearms.
