Back in our YJ days…. We had the windshield down a few times, but only during offroading trips. I will note… we had a rollcage built behind the windshield and around the cab area.

Honestly? I wouldn’t care if the windshields didn’t go down. Even for offroading, you’re better off with more ‘roll cage / roll protection’ than the novelty of putting it down. However…..I’d be concerned about the overall re-engineering of the body and still allow the doors/tops to come off. Because NEVER EVER get rid of that (removing doors/top).
I actually wish we could buy a version of the Wrangler / Gladiator that didn't have anything removable. I do like taking the top off a couple of times a year, but I'd give that up to have better sound proofing. It's my only vehicle, so it's what I take when I travel anywhere. 75 on the highways is LOUD inside this thing.

Get yourself a pair of loops. us.loopearplugs.com
Saves my sanity anytime I'm driving with the doors off. I've put sound matting on the doors and roof to make it more civilized for the wife.

Only time I put the windshield down is when it makes it easier to work on something, but I haven't been able to on the Gladi because the wipers WILL NOT come off. I've tried everything.

Maybe if I lived someplace with no bugs and where I'm never over 30mph I might leave the windshield down. Ever taken a june bug to the neck at 60mph? It's not fun.

I really hope jeep does not do this. recalibration for some of those features can run up to $800, example my RX350. I dont want heads up display, i want the rear view mirror moved and better visibility across the windshield.

While i find a HUD cool and functional for alot of users, i have zero desire for that on my jeep product.

I want a base model jeep. i want a three stage wiper select, auto trans, ac/heat, soft top, manual windows, manual locks, no cruise control. rabble rabble.

I folded mine down a few weeks ago. The wipers were a little hard to get off but with some patience and light taps they cam off

Yup ear plugs to save the day when I drive doors off. I drive few hundred miles that way and it's comfortable

It’s a friggin Jeep, not an F-35. Do we really need HUDs and all that stuff? Take it back to basics or make 2 different lines of Jeeps. One for people who actually Jeep Jeeps and one line for those who crawl around parking lots and want 22s and HUDs and super duper espresso machines in the glove box and update you about your social media crap.

Just my $.02
I love the HUD in my Camaro. Speedometer and other small bits of info right in my line of sight. Turn signals, high beam position and tachometer are in it too, depending on what setting I use.

If it broke tomorrow I'd pull the whole dash to replace it with haste 🤣

Agreed. I had HUD in my BMW and thats the one thing I miss the most.

But Jeep thinking about off road cameras in the HUD? Meh, I think thats unnecessary.

The camera junk in a HUD I could pass on.

But just basic info like my car?

That would be neatttt.

There are ways to accomplish this even with the removable panels. Adds a little weight and it’s some work but it can be done.

It may be the begining of the end for the wrangler.
Look at the abomination of the Cherokee.
I don’t believe “everyone” will automatically hate the Wrangler; but maybe some EV converts will. The fact that Stellantis is still looking to innovate, change in some way, and/or improve the Wrangler means that sales are strong in spite of the push by greenies to go electric and I’m sure that includes first time buyers. For me, even if I have to keep what I currently have I will never go electric, it’s not in my DNA, and I’m sure many others feel the same way.

@ChrisNLA and @JTdiRtyD I used acronym HUD because idk exactly what Jeep is trying to do. They kept asking about different camera views (one tire at a time, all four tires, undecage ect ) and having them projected on the windshield. Maybe HUD isn't the acronym lol

I must confess I haven't ever folded the windshield down. I keep saying I need to , just for the hell of it, but I haven't yet needed to. On my CJ5 I couldn't, because the hinges were frozen solid.

I dunno, an espresso machine in the glove box does sound tempting. 😁
Somewhere I have a "Autobar" 12V plug-in-the-cigarette-lighter espresso maker. Italian made, gleaming chrome and orange bakelite cups. You can just picture some Italian commuters cruising down the road to Rome in their Fiat sedan. I actually used it a lot back in my 280Z days, to keep me awake on a weekly late night drive from visiting my girlfriend. I'd smell it perking and know it was almost ready around the time I hit the first toll booth on the Garden State Parkway, it actually worked quite well.

Sounds like my 23 Sport, except it has cruise control.
