My only complaint for Jeep is the price for what they're supposed to be. Simple, capable, easy to repair / replace. I can't get my head around someone purchasing a 50-70k vehicle to just thrash it on a trail.

As far as tik tok, my tin foil hat says: The US Gov doesn't have control over the algos that tell people what to watch, and that's why they want to ban or buy it.

One thing I found when people hate on jeeps is, They never owned or drove a truck older then a 2000 model. Many are coming from Honda civics, Corollas, CRV etc and wanted a cool "Jeep".

With no experience with how a short Wheelbase solid front axle vehicle would feel/ride like, they immediately think it's horrible.

Reliability wise, same thing, the Jeep is as reliable as any other vehicle. But due to some of it's features it requires more maintenance and monitoring. It's not a set it and forget it vehicle like a civic.

Modern compacts and small SUVs can ride just fine with blown out bushings and shocks. Majority of people wouldn't notice until it makes horrible noises or a catastrophic failure. Whereas a jeep will happily let you know it's worn out.

As for the tik tok crap, she gets views hating on Jeep due to the Jeep community watching and sharing her videos. Negativity directed at a million person strong community equals views.
I mean, I do kind of like the "poor handling" folks associate with a SFA. I suppose it's not much of a thing if you have ever driven heavy trucks or cargo vehicles with solid front axles or variations thereof, it's just how they are. While yes, worn parts have a greater tangible impact in a SFA, but, they are far easier to work on than IFS. It's a straight forward task to replace SFA springs and shocks compared to an IFS rig. Half shafts wear out and then you are pulling wheels, hub bolts and brakes, need a spring compressor. With a SFA you can crawl right under and inspect all the critical parts without even touching a jack.

A FWD Honda is a great car but when I underestimate the depth of a hole or size of a rock and hit one a bit too fast, I'd far rather be running a solid axle. There are still a lot of pros to the SFA just not comfort and handling. Same deal with steering, rack and pinion may provide better feel but the old steering box and pitman arm setup are robust and historically appropriate if that's your thing.

Keep the jeep antiquated, it's the only thing of it's kind left.

Tiktok? Really? It's like the name sounds.... a waste of time :CWL:

These are probably some of the same people that threatened suicide if it got banned in the US.

I mean, I do kind of like the "poor handling" folks associate with a SFA.
I've never noticed it - and I've had mine going a pretty good clip (about 85) in winds around 50-70 mph hitting me from the side and corners.
Poor handling? Compared to low-slung sportier vehicles with rack and pinion steering, maybe, but poor handling? I've not noticed it except when the steering gear in my 2020 had its own little issues (and that was resolved via the TSB).
we're at a disadvantage with center of gravity as much as anything else.
Heck, the WJ was a solid front axle and handled as well as any car or SUV we've ever had!
Smooth, precise, you really couldn't tell the difference on the road.
But it's the Wrangler and Gladiator that bring us the disadvantages due to wheelbase, center of gravity, height and other factors.

With a SFA you can crawl right under and inspect all the critical parts without even touching a jack.
Due to height more than anything. I have no problem inspecting the "critical parts" of my Eagle.
As far as springs - I could swap a pair of front springs in a pre-1970 AMC in minutes, easier than a Jeep. It takes a bit more with a 70+ but again, the difference is more in the access - height, ability to reach into places, than the axle type.
So I guess it depends on the car more than solid axle vs. IFS.

The differences come with bumps and dips and washboards.

Like others who swear they'll leave if ......... you know the rest.
They believe that it will sway people into seeing things their way because they are so valuable we certainly would never want them to leave, etc.

OTOH - there was a test on a science program a few years back where young females (by young I mean something around 20 years old) were asked to participate in an experiment and give up their cell phones for something like a week, I believe it was.
Their addiction to social media, texting and those phones was so real some exhibited sweating, nightmares, shakes - exactly like a junkie who couldn't get his next fix.
It was crazy.
As I recall, one was so bad she ended up leaving the experiment.
The result - proof that the stuff is a true addiction like any drug, alcohol and so on. They experienced physical changes and health issues.
The people who create and support things like tiktok and fakebook and instacrap all know all of this and build it in - the idea is to actually get people hooked. The impact on mental health and our society is very real. It can be measured and seen in employment situations, among other things.
It's a true addiction. So in some ways, these creators are not much different than those selling certain other things.

I couldn't care less what some fake blonde thinks about Jeeps, but this was my first experience falling into the TikTok funnel. Good grief! No wonder the birth rate is collapsing and suicides are on the rise.

I admittedly have not read/watched the review and gave this thread up after page 2 but why does this discussion exist other than to continue to popularize this crap and give them clicks?

Just like the people who set themselves on fire or participate in a (real) hunger strike. You are so firm in your convictions that you'd do yourself potentially fatal harm to prove a point?

Good for you and thanks for taking yourself out of the gene pool.

Which is why I am all in favor of banning TikTok and not allowing minors access to ANY social media platform.

Its a shame they gave the ineos a BMW shifter. They could've put a jeep shifter on it and it would've fit better. They use the same ZF8 trans just a different variant. My only gripe about it to be honest. The co developed B58 by Toyota/BMW is a good competitor to the 3.0 Hurricane if we ever get it.
we’ve got to get it. There’s got to be protests in the street until the gladiator gets the motor it deserves.

I’ll take mine the hybrid variant pls for the electric town miles and a the occasional few silent trail miles.

i like the Ineos to. A lot. I think the I6b58 + zf8spd is spot on.

yet I still like gladiator more. In terms of character and straight good looks.

we need two things the Ineos has, the driveline and the gorgeous range of retro/stylish colours and colour combos.

why can’t we get gladiator in that retro blue like the tfl guys have and a white roof? Etc etc.

Come on jeep

This is another reason to see it gone or at least some sort of policing - this guy has a rabidly viral video out there - this is the sort of "influencers" tiktok supports -

Free speech is one thing, but encouraging invasions, and using a child to commit crimes?

This is one of the problems with tiktok - anything goes, including abuse, illegal activities (and encouraging same) and more.

The B58 motor and ZF trans are a rock solid combination.

I'd be all in favor of a white JT with a tan top, but I like where you're headed with this. Sure, you could wrap a painted hard top...

Bill, that's the biggest issue. Somehow Twitter/X gets lambasted by certain types for idiots encouraging and posting about illegal, unethical, and unsavory activity but this mouth breathing waste of DNA gets a pass?

Nope, didn’t watch. No use for Tik-krap.
It’s time to turn up the heat and melt the snow.
