On the snorkel topic and the Sy-Klone filter; I did some very rudimentary digging yesterday.
AFE is one source, since I run their intake, that claims the factory intake is 320 CFM and their "Rapid Induction" intake is 375 CFM. I don't know what the standards are for testing these things, considering they're not the actual source of the airflow themselves, but regardless if their claims are correct then there's an improvement of flow to be had there.

Sy-Klone themselves have a engine compatibility function to input basic engine specs and it tells you a recommended filter. That recommendation is the 5" 9005 unit, 350-500 CFM range. I reached out but didn't hear back, but I suspect the AEV branded unit is the 4" inlet 9001R unit at 275-350 CFM.

Again, I don't think the numbers can be directly compared and I need to confirm, but just some interesting numbers for thought.

::edit:: Just got confirmation it is a 4" inlet on the snorkel. According to Sy-Klone you can always adapt the larger 5" unit but I'm guessing there could be interference issues with the door/windshield given how tight AEV's tolerances seem to be. I might pull the trigger on the base snorkel setup today then re-evaluate the Sy-Klone filter situation if I can find more information on the subject.

Snorkel goes live on the website around noon +/- an hour central time today.

Unfortunately, unless AEV measured 350+ CFM with their default config (non sy-klone) I don’t think 5” will cut if immediately restrained on a 4” snorkel inlet?

I think most of the resistance is in the mechanism in the filter itself, there's a lot going on there. I spoke again with AEV and they said there is no worry at all about the snorkel itself, it's the Sy-Klone filter. And it was implied that a 5" filter may not fit, although I might have misinterpreted and the implication was actually that the size would just look ridiculous. Which it probably would. Sy-Klone themselves sell adapters to fit larger filters on smaller intake pipes to meet CFM requirements.

Maybe a screw on grill can be 3d printed and a thin pre filter material could be sandwiched between the two and catch the large particles? Simlar to this grill on this intake just bolted over the AEV intake. Could possibly work without much reduction in flow

I ran the Air Flo snorkel on my Power Wagon for over 11 years with the scoop pointed forwards with no issues. Other than cleaning the air filter a little more often.

Uses the stock airbox and filter which is a restriction. Sorry to see. It should be going to a cartridge air filter (donaldson high flow).
Can’t put a Donaldson dust separator on the top?

A Donaldson H000858 (7.68” D w/ 4” outlet) is 339 CFM.

Personally I would probably not run a pre-filter all the time anyway, so the look of a chonky 5 inch outlet filter stepped down with some plumbing for unusual circumstances like gravel road convoys wouldn’t bother me since it would be temporary. I always just spun my ram intake around for trails with lots of mud bogs and water crossings on the TJ. Without the pre-filter the snorkel was an improvement over stock intake for dust already in my experience. I also used to carry an extra air filter with me.

I do the same thing with my Liberty. I turn the snorkel head around, and if it's really dusty i'll throw a snorkel-sock on there. I always keep a brand new paper filter just in case, too

These could also be an option. I doubt that I'd run one, but throwing it out there for visibility.
