Yep, I think this was a salesman trying to get a sale on a new 2023 JT. Probably more accurately characterized as irresponsible fake news.

Here's why I think the Gladiator is here to stay at least in the short term:
  • The baseline vehicle, Wrangler, is a huge sales hit and an icon for the brand.
  • The Wrangler already has a 4xe version which is very adaptable to become a 4xe Gladiator.
  • Any R&D done for the Wrangler is also R&D for the Gladiator.
  • Sales are steady; while not a leader, the Gladiator still sells in respectable numbers.
  • The Gladiator structure is being used for the 2024/5 Ram Dakota. Keeping both in the Stellantis arsenal is more cost-effective.
  • Having the Jeep brand offer a competitive / unique entry in the uber-popular light truck segment is a no-brainer.
  • A Ram Rampage type truck is slated to slot below the Gladiator / Dakota in the future. The Rampage is currently being teased for the South American market. It's far from a Gladiator.
  • There's strong aftermarket support and as mentioned, concept trucks are still being drawn up.
I think Jeep will ride the release of the new 2024 Wrangler for a while and then some piggy-back marketing efforts will follow with the 2024 Gladiator. But wait, there's more!

Kinda meant as a joke. But seriously they do have a lot of power for towing, but clearly range is very limited.

Clarifying your hearsay is how I see it.
It's not hearsay. I've seen entire videos showing firsthand, the capabilities of towing with the Lightning, as well as the incapabilities.

Who Knows - The OP was just relaying info he heard-nothing more, nothing less. I guess we need to start a separate thread under "Rumor Control"...
This is the last year for the Challenger and sales were clearly good. The Charger ICE is gone but will be all electric next year. Again, who knows....
But with that said, when Air Force One goes all electric, I'll consider buying an electric vehicle....
That electric one wheel skate board thingy is kind of neat. I'd consider buying it but at 66 yrs old bones take a long time to heal....

You said “I’ve heard…” so that’s how I interpreted it. Watching videos is still hearsay, those videos are loaded with opinionated commentary.

The absolute worst thing Stellantis could do is discontinue the JT and adopt a Maverick-type design that has no power, and has no towing capability. Just because you put a hitch on it, doesn't mean it can tow.....hell, I've heard the Ford F150 EV truck sucks at towing, I can't imagine how bad it would be with a weaker engine and lesser power. I'm hoping that it was just something that was being speculated on, but the way Stellantis is buying into this stuff, I can't completely discount it.

So are the videos that say 'all is well'.

With STLA's hardcore turn toward EV and away from ICE, I find it impossible to believe that the 392 will appear in the JT. In the near future, the V8 will only continue to be available in full sized truck applications (not the JL/JT).

Up until last year I owned a Hyundai Franchise, and growing up my father owned a Toyota store and my grandfather owned a number of franchises as well. I literally grew up in the business. And let me tell you, no manufacturer is about to tell any dealer any real news. We find out AFTER articles are printed. They know not to tell us too early. We do see sneak peaks of new models but by then there have been articles written and released anyhow. Definitely not this early out. Dealers have big mouths, bigger than consumers lol.

I used to work for a Toyota dealership too. By the time the dealer knew about the New Tundra body change so did everyone else.

I confirmed this with my dealer this afternoon and a Jeep representative was in the building. It's not a surprise or unexpected given that Jeep is going to electrify all their models and there has been no news about the JT but the media surrounding the 2024 JL is everywhere. I was told that there isn't a name for their new electric truck but it will be something similar to the maverick in size, price, options, etc. So do we all stop driving these things and try to keep them in mint condition? I am bummed but not surprised.
Thought it would be worth a follow up, but I was at the aforementioned dealer again yesterday test driving a 392 and mentioned the whole no more JT conversation to my salesman. He refuted what was said to me previously and spoke to the GM as well who agreed. They did say that it's awfully quiet from Jeep on anything related to the Gladiator but it's not done. Q1 sales figures were terrible so maybe that's why there's no chatter?!?

***Please don't respond about me being fooled/tricked about the JT for them to push a sale. I am not looking at Gladiator's as I already own one that I am more than happy with.***

Lets for a minute classify the Gladiator as a Mid-sized truck and not as a Jeep and compare the numbers for last year:

#1 Toyota Tacoma: 237,323
#2 Jeep Gladiator: 89,437
#3 Chevy Colorado 65,009
#4 Ford Ranger 57,005
#5 GMC Canyon 52,011
(can't find numbers on Nissan)

Taco Truck is clearly the winner, But #2 in that field isn't bad; I don't see anyone talking about killing the Ranger or Colorado...... (yes I know Canyon and Colorado are basically the same, but Ford long ago proved that when it comes to sales- especially on trucks, GMC and Chevy are separate models)

Interesting, 4 of the 5 listed have new models out this year. Won't help JT sales, many of them have high power versions too. New Ridgeline coming as well.
