saw today in another social media forum that the replacement axle has an updated seal and some had both left and rear axles changed out to the updated seals at their dealerships. idk if true or not since it was a random comment and not from FCA or Jeep directly.

Add another to the list, 80th anniversary Diesel passenger side leak (Narrow Axle) built sometime in July of 2021. Any official word on the updated seal? I'd prefer to have both replaced if there is a more robust seal available.

My 21 Sport just joined the club, leaking rear passenger side, service advisor has no ETA for when the axle will be available. My Clayton lift just came in today and I was getting ready to install that sucker and throw on 37's. Think it would matter if I install those before the axle comes in?

R U in a hurry - and reason to do it before?
It shouldn't matter but 37s will add some stress and we aren't sure exactly WHY they are leaking.....

Build 1-21.

Rear passenger side leaking... Parts backordered until OCTOBER!

Tech response, "just drive it until the parts get here, the worst that will happen is the seal will blow and the fluid will all leak out..." LOL, okay... if you say so! By the time the parts get here, I may be in line for a whole new rear end!

The rear wheel is absolutely covered in gear oil, ugh!

Add me to the list as well, I have 2021 Sport S Diesel with the narrow 3.73 axles built late Feb / early Mar. They mentioned it when I had it serviced last week but weren’t specific about where exactly the leak was. Looked under there for myself and sure enough it matches exactly to some pictures here; gear oil all around inside my right rear wheel. Sucks but happy it is still driveable until the parts come in and that the leak isn’t dripping on my garage floor so far.

It takes a pretty good leak to get low enough to cause issues internally. In fact, it's more likely the leak will drop a bit in severity as the fluid gets lower. The pinion will still toss lube around inside and get things pretty well lubricated. I'd not tow or haul really heavy loads for a while, but I've serviced differentials that had totally greasy brakes, the wheels were a mess and there was fluid on the floor - but the level was down only a cup or so. (8 fluid ounces U.S. measure for the Brits and Canadians ? )

Should one put stock wheels/tires back on before taking the truck in to have the leak assessed/documented. Wondering if they will try to put the blame on the larger wheels and tires?

I absolutely would. Even if you are in the right and have plenty of evidence of this problem, it's best to avoid the fight altogether.

Update: Appointment Thur Sept 9. Service department said they may just replace the seal, but won't know until they actually look at it. If they just replace the seal it will be done that day. If they replace axle then it will have to be ordered and I would be released to drive until it comes in. I brought up warranty and he said it should be covered (they haven't actually looked at it yet) so fingers crossed they don't pull one over on me and void it.

Any help you can be I would appreciate @JeepCares.

Welp, just checked mine based off the number of reports. Its looks small but could easily turn into a big issue. What do you think? 2021 Sport S
