Hi everyone. I'm looking at a 2021 Sport with the max tow package tomorrow. It has 43k miles on it that look lightly highway used from the pics. It's black with tan interior and a soft top. Asking $38k from a dealership. Anything special to look at when I see it? How do I verify that it really has the 4.10 gears? That's my sticking point and I really want that. Whoever owned it put 43k miles on it in two years. Not sure what that indicates. Has 33s on Black Rhino wheels. What do you think?

You can look up the original window sticker using the vin number to see the original equipment. Fender flares are max tow fender flares.
You ok with that wheel/tire combo?

I really like that interior. If you can pull the carfax up on your computer it will give history of course but there is a link that will pull up original sticker.

Look up the VIN, that has to be close to the MSRP when new. The MSRP on my 2020 Sport max tow was $40,645 with a hard top, bed liner and SiriusXM.

That's what I was thinking: that's a pretty high price for a two-year-old truck with 43k miles on it.
Basic Sport.
Max tow
NFab nerf bars
Soft top
Somewhat upgraded wheels & tires.
And those last three the dealer shouldn't even hope of adding much value.

others hit the nail on the head with the vin for the window sticker and/or carfax.

LOVE that interior. We have it in my wifes JLU.

id take a look at the drive shafts / springs / steering linkage and make sure theres no damage done by a poorly installed lift (if it has one)

otherwise the same stuff youd look for in any used vehicle.
-Out of place engine components (shiny bits that look way newer could indicate an issue the previous owner was chasing and gave up on)
-after market parts installed wrong causing damage that wont be covered by dealer
-under belly damage from offroading
-rusty parts
-signs of an alignment issue (weird tire ware / loose steering linkage)
-unblemished paint adjacent to blemished paint (previous repair)
-any added electrical parts and how they’re wired
-do all the interior plugs work?
-does the top open correctly
-do the tailgate and doors all open/close correctly

i have 81,000 on my 2020 so the miles seem on par for a driver like my self. So id be particularly interested in service records.

Just some food for thought.

id also ditch the silly looking “fat hips” tire set up haha but thats me.

Do you plan on towing? Check to see if a lift kit has been installed. If so, it no longer has the factory capacity for towing and payload.

Not particularly on the tires. They are 33s so I’m guessing there’s only been a leveling kit installed. I’d likely sell those and do what’s needed for more tucked in 35s. I hear what everyone is saying on the price, but based on what I’m seeing it’s comparable and even on the low side for what’s available.

I pulled the carfax and saw the sticker. All good on the tow package and no accidents or work done beyond regular maintenance. Thanks everyone for that advice.

If the price is affordable to you, and the truck is exactly what you want, then go for it. Just make sure that you get what you want. If the only doubt that you have is price, then that is a good thing.

That being said-

If you have the time and ambition, traveling for a vehicle makes sense. You can save thousands by buying outside of your area. We bought a specialty optioned van two states away but saved $20K for a year newer then the next one.

Blue but 9K miles-

I got 62,000 on my 2020 so I wouldn't worry to much about the miles. I was offered $40,000 for mine with 54,000 miles on it back in September when I was at the dealership for a battery issue so the price seems to not be to bad. I only paid $37,100 out the door for my 2020 Max tow base sport brand new but Hendricks likes to have a few lifted jeeps on their lot with bigger tires so they will break even on one to draw people in. Maybe since it's used you can haggle down the price a little, cash is king.

You can look at the springs to see if there is a spacer lift.

I'm going to wait them out until they come down on the price a little. I'm in no rush, but I'm going to end up with one in the next few months. Glad to know how to spot the max towing package without asking now so that helps a ton. Thanks everyone.
