If they were all terrains tires that's what I would do. But mud tires just don't suit me. And it'll be close to a decade before I wear them down. Id rather get pennies on the dollar for them than drive that long on tires i'm not suited for.

I drive anywhere between 5k and 6k miles in a given year. And that's daily driving.
Especially if it is your recreational vehicle in a multi vehicle household...No problem with that! My Glad gets about 2300 miles per year. My warrantee is wasting away!

I know exactly where you are coming from. Very similar use for my Mojave. Went with the 35x11.50(Toyo's for what its worth). Love the look, no perceivable difference in performance even while towing. No regearing and kept oem rims. I'm guessing you will be able to tell a little with the manual tranny but not likely to be dramatic. Totally worth the switch. I sold my stock tires to one of the guys at the tire shop for $200 which isn't much but I didn't want to mess with them and cash is cash.

I have a 2024 JTR with the 6 speed Manual. My use is 85% daily driving suburbs and highway, 10% summer time overlanding/offroading trips, and 5% towing.

I feel like the factory Falken Mud Tires are wasted for my use case and am looking to get them swapped out while they still have some level of resale value. I have spent a lot of time reading various threads on tire size debates on these trucks and have come up with the following options:

Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 285/75/R17.
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 285/70/R17.
Falken Wildpeak A/T4W 35x11.5 R17
BFG KO3 285/75/R17
BFG Ko3 285/70/R17

As you can see, I'm looking at All Terrain tires and the crux of the debate is should I keep the stock size, go with the 34" 285/75/R17, or go with narrow 35x11.5s. I love the look of 35s on these trucks but would it be overkill?

So what are the realistic pros and cons of running each of these with my use cases. I am never planning on getting a lift or re-gearing. I'm not going to be doing any serious rock crawling, but I will be taking it off road regularly in the Summer. Before anyone asks why I bought a Rubicon when a Sport would be just fine, I got it because it was over 15% off MSRP and it was the best optioned Gladiator that I could find in a manual transmission and my wife really wanted the heated leather seats.

My priorities are, (1) ride comfort in all conditions, (2) I'm in the PNW so wet performance is a plus, (3) I like the look of bigger tires but I don't want to lose too much Torque or MPG (but if I'm not mistaken my factory M/Ts are already on the heavier side for their size). My towing is already hamstrung by the manual transmission so I don't want to hurt that performance any more.
I was a big BFG fan and ran both the AT/KOs, AT/KO2s and the KM2s on my Jeeps. My Mojave came with the Falken Wildpeak A/TW3 and I was very happy with them and found them to be better in the winter than the BFG. Falkens are also truer to labeled size. BFG run a little small. I have not run the AT/KO3s but I have heard good reviews of them. Example being, BFG AT/KO2 35"x12.50"x17" sat at 33.95" mounted and my 35"x12.50x17" Falken A/TW3 sit at 34.68" mounted.

I also have a manual transmission. I went with the 255/85/R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss, and they feel near stock while driving around, on the stock rims. They are lighter than the 12.5 wide units by about 8lbs per tire. When I go off-road with them, I air down to 15psi, and they are super sticky, and are really good for extra traction. Daily driving, they are kept between 42-46psi, which was what Mickey Thompson recommended when I called to get optimum tire pressure. Yes it's high and the ride is a little rougher as they are E load tires. They are also really good in snow and wet conditions, zero slipping. I haven't regeared yet, but eventually will to 4:88 when I add lockers. Hope that helps

Running Falken AT3W 285/65 R18 on my wife's Sahara. Great looking and wearing tire, great in snow and rain. Only caveat is that as the miles pile up they get noisier. At 63k miles, still plenty of tread left but noticeably more road noise. Road noise will likely be less on the Gladiator as the rear tires are not directly under the cab area as they are in the wrangler. I have 92k miles on my 2020 JT and ended up staying with the stock Goodyear Wrangler ATA 255/70 R18 as i do a lot of highway and love the 21 mpg and almost zero road noise and they wore great with no traction loss. We rotate our tires every oil change.

take a look at cooper tires Discoverer® AT3 XLT™ i had them on my 1996 ford Bronco for 12 years. never had a problem on my bronco. had them on my jeep overland for 25,000 miles with no problem. they are great on road because of the tread design, works great for wet roads and is pretty good off road.

I appreciate all the feedback. I am definitely going to look into all the suggested tire models people have had. But mainly, I was hoping for some experience on the difference in sizings on a stock Rubicon with factory wheels. Not necessarily different model tires.

The key thing to remember about AT's is they totally SUCK at clearing themself of mud until you get back on hard pan.
100% truth, for this very reason I run MT's even though I have to travel to my sites which are all dirt if I wore the AT's I would not be able to go beyond the entrance and my site this year is 4000ft of hillside and ridgeline..

Holy Smokes !! 2300 !! I do 2,300 miles every 18 days. I do on average 27,000 a year ..I already had 35,000 before I had to start driving it for work and now I have 117,800 miles on it over a period of 3yrs. As of March 3rd.

i will politely disagree with you. I am running General tires ATx on my jeep and this is what the tires did for me in the middle of Tennessee, lost in the middle of Windrock Park during June of 23 and my uncle was loving every bit of what we had to go thru. unfortunately, my uncle lost all of the pictures of me that he took after I stuck the jeep and had to winch it out as I did, I fell into the mud. is it not what this is all about is the fun.
