I completely agree that the manual is rubbish if your mission is to take all your worldly possessions with you wherever you go. ;-)Rubbish? I don't think I said that, the gearing isn't the issue. The main issue with the manual is the abysmal towing ...
You've already stated that you wouldn't buy any modern vehicle with a manual. If towing were equal I'd have still thought about it ...
Now this really does suck. You guys on hold caught a break, IMO. Much better remedied on the assembly line.found this as I suspected.

Not to worry, Clutch, pressure plate, fly wheel, are easy changes... Basically wear items that are designed to be changed during the life of the vehicle. Surely, the dealer can handle that. Now this really does suck. You guys on hold caught a break, IMO. Much better remedied on the assembly line.
One of my big issues with a recall of this magnitude is I don't trust my nearest dealership to even change a battery.

Have your local garage do the replacement - doesn’t that usually get reimbursed for a recall?Did I mention that I don't even trust my dealership to change a battery?
Really I'm speaking of my Ram dealership. I've not had any dealings with the nearest Jeep dealership but it has the same owner and is just across the street from Ram. It is a separate garage, so maybe they're better. There are other options that are not nearly as convenient but I'll probably go to one of them.
I'm also jaded because my wife had the clutch in her G37 replaced by the local Infiniti dealership and it felt horrible afterwards. Took much more force to disengage and not nearly as smooth as if they replaced the spring with one from a Mac Truck. When she traded it in a year later at the same dealership, they asked us what was up with the clutch. She fired back, "that would be a question for your service department!"
I've done a few clutch replacements. Not that I would want to, or at all likely that I would, but I wonder if there is a way to get just the parts under warranty.
Great idea and hope that's an option -- I'll definitely look into that when the time comes.Have your local garage do the replacement - doesn’t that usually get reimbursed for a recall?
No; it will be fixed once the service plan is ready. Buy and enjoy!Should i be worried?
I would go ahead with it. Do not power shift it... and count on getting a brand new clutch and pressure plate later in it's life for free from FCA. Not so bad... They are wear items anyway.Im supposed to be purchasing a MT off the lot on Monday. Im just finding about all this (possible recalls and such) now. Should i be worried? I try to keep up to date on this forum and so far havent heard of too many people having issues with there MT. So my gut instinct is to go ahead with it. Thoughts?
Get it, buy the gap, drive it like you stole it, and from the sounds of things, you'll likely end up with a fresh clutch in a recall.Im supposed to be purchasing a MT off the lot on Monday.
