A basic sport has an advantage even with the 3.73 ratio - smaller tires, so the engine won't be as "loaded" hauling at the same highway speed as my Overland was with tires a bit larger/wider.True, but typically the when properly equipped asterisk is listed next to the top payload and towing capacity not the minimum. They're all properly equipped for 4500. With the JT heat is probably the #1 concern in towing capacity, but that's not been the case in most full size trucks. Even in the JT is over hyped, as it passes the long grade in 90⁰+ temps to get that rating. No a base sport isn't going to overheat pulling a 6-7k pound boat home from the marina in 70⁰ weather with no elevation gain even with its 3.73s.
The sport will be lighter as well.
No, it wouldn't be a problem.
I posted the 2025 results - which have changed in some cases from the 2023 and prior.
IMO - one should look at the BOOK, and their window sticker for 2023 and older.
For 2024 and later it's not even in the book............ and they refer you to the specs section for 2024 and 25 models.
(you don't even get a full manual these days, it's a whole lot less paper, you have to download the whole manual if you want it.)
