Are Falcon 3.3 SP2 overrated?

2020 Mojave - RPM 2.5 steering, Falcon Stabilizer, Core 4x4 TB, 37' Falken WP AT3W, 5:13 regear, HD Ball joints, JCR Bed Rack, Metalcloak Armor...

My Mojave Fox 2.5's are due for a rebuild. After going down the rabbit hole, talking to reputable shops here in Colorado, and reading 300 different threads; I have decided the following:

The only place who will rebuild the OEM Fox bypass shocks, is Shock Surplus. I will be sending them in for a rebuild. I'm most likely planning on reselling these once rebuilt.

I am replacing them with the Falcon 3.3 SP2 shocks, planning on running them on soft and adjusting from there.

Before I hear "WhY wOuLD yOu bUY a mOjaVe AnD rEPlaCe tHe sHoCks iDiOT".. hear me out. I have run my Mojave to 40k miles with a 60/40 split between highway and dirt. Specifically hunting "overland" (i.e.. logging roads,, 7/10 technical trails, Moab) oriented here in the Rocky Mountains. The OEM shocks have been great but are shot. I researched my options for a couple months and have decided on the cited replacement for the following reasons.

Specific Mojave bushing kit for larger diameter front bolts.
Adjustability
Longevity (Don't want to have a continuous rebuild in the back of my mind)
Cost vs Feature set
Better control and handling to/on trail

Has anyone swapped their Mojave shocks? Am I running towards a cliff of disappointment?

The Fox 2.5's are tuned to the coil springs on your Mojave. Are the Falcon stating they have them tuned also?

This would be the determining factor for me. I would also take into consideration how much longer will I own said vehicle. I've gotten 40K out of the stock shocks. Will I own it for another 40K?

At some point, those Falcons will need to be rebuilt as well. Not sure what mileage folks are getting out of them. When they need the rebuild, they have to go back to Teraflex, as it is my understanding that they don't sell/offer rebuild kits for them. Not sure if that is an issue for you down the road.

Kevin, I'm not sure they are tuned specifically for the Mojave coils (may try the synergy 1-2'' coils). I really enjoy the current height as it has a lower CG and romps trails. It's not a "crawler".

I have talked to a couple reputable shops here that have been building Jeeps for years. According to them the Falcon 3.3 will be a plug and play option that I'll be very happy with. But that's all respective to the individual. I'm gradually going harder with my JT and doubt I will get another 40K out of the rebuild. Plus I can completely offset the cost of the 3.3's by selling the rebuilt Fox's (gotta sell reasoning to my financially intelligent wife).

I was a Toyota guy for years and feel like my buddy running a built 6.0 Powerstroke "$3k more and she'll be bulletproof".. I feel like I'm constantly trying to stay ahead of the truck with weak points. I absolutely love this JT, but it keeps much more of my attention than my 4Runner/Tacoma builds ever did.

Fox won't?
Fox will but refuse to give me actual pricing or turnaround time. Shock Surplus stated the following.

" Once we receive them we will replace the seals, change the oil and do a full inspection on them. Should take us a week or less."

I know the 3.3's are serviceable but have been getting a longer life between rebuilds. I ran Kings on both my Toyota builds previously. Those were great but I had then rebuilt every 20k. Also several shops here (Colorado) will rebuild Kings, nobody will do Fox as they are a nightmare regarding changing engineering yearly and supply chain.

What was Shock Surplus pricing for all 4? I have a spare set I need to send in - bought them for $300 with 24k miles. Figured I'd have them on hand when mine go and then have 0 turnaround time.

$300, dang man. That was a steal. Shock surplus quoted me $700 for the set + shipping. All the cost and benefit analysis vs market options has smoke coming out of my ears.

QFT. It would be great to hear from some owners who've had Falcons for a while, and report on how they've held up. I've only got 10k miles on mine, no changes to report since day 1.

But I can report the low-speed damping is low and floaty on my very heavy truck in all modes, while I like the range of adjustability for high-speed damping. This probably doesn't apply at all to lighter trucks closer to stock weight (or to the many of you who seem to actually like floaty floppy suspension). I can live with it, but at rebuild time I will be looking at options that provide more low speed damping - either revalving my 3.3s, or something else entirely

Timing on this thread was great! I just rolled over 70,000 last week. It's probably time for a rebuild. Shock Surplus sounds like the way to go. Much more reasonable cost than I was expecting. I can drive my JK while I'm waiting.

Here's what I got in an email from Fox.

Service Pricing:
https://www.ridefox.com/service.php?m=truck
(Note: Sroll down and you will find the shocks Rebuild service cost and Service Intervals information)
Our current turnaround time is 3 workings depending on availability of parts needed to be used.
You are responsible for shipping to our Baxter Service Hub. If after evaluation, this is under warranty, then Fox will cover the return freight cost.

I'm at 45,000 miles and trying to find an option myself since I can't be without a vehicle for a week or two.

It just seems like a lot to spend every 50k miles.

700 bucks every 50k is a lot for a high performance shock?
