I too prefer the ride of the Mojave. I owned a Rubicon JT for 6 months and gladly traded it in on my Mojave. To me, the ride is much softer. Also, here in Michigan, the 4.1 transfer case was more of a pain than a benifit. I could not build up the speed I needed on the dunes or on the trail. We have sand dunes and 2 tracks. I'm not crawling over rocks. The Mojave transfer case is better suited for the type of terrain we have here. Both are great vehicles though. It is just a personal preference.

Respect for both - one is not superior to the other in every aspect - just depends on what you want to do with it.

After all this reading, I'm glad Jeep made it easy for me. No diesel, no sale for me. Rubicon it was!

This is good but missing the thing that made my decision. Rubi can tow 1,000 more lbs than Mojave.

I plan on lifting the Jeep and will be replacing the stock suspension, so I got the Rubicon. The stock suspension is probably the only thing that really matters between the Rubicon and Mojave. It's not like a Rubicon's frame is going to fold in half when driving at a moderate speed offroad.

For the same price, and with the intention of replacing the stock suspension, the Rubicon was a no brainer for me.

Or get a Sport S Max Tow and add the lift and suspension.
The max tow package gives you the 4.10 gears like the Rubicon and the lighter axis.
Why do you want the Rubicon or Mohave?
I second this. For your intended use, don't waste the money on either. Sport S model with max tow.

i purchased a rubicon just as the mojave was being released. after debating both configurations the rubicon seemed the better option for me as the mojave suspension was probably the feature i wanted the most from that package but what about when they have 70-100k miles on them? what will mojave owners look to replace them with (not rebuild) that a rubicon owner couldnt purchase as well? the options the rubicon comes with seemed to be less wear and tear items and more lifelong components.

I’m racking my brain trying to figure out if I should get a sport S diesel or Mojave. The fuel mileage and diesel intrigues me but the looks / ride of the Mojave do as well but that 3.6 for the price of the truck seems meh at best.

Wouldn’t they just replace them with the same thing? You think ZR2 owners going to autozone and buying a set of air shocks? Lol

I've found a couple at the local lots. The options/price that work for me are there on both but I've only been able to test drive the Mojave. I wasn't expecting it to have the highway manners that it did. Love the feel and the ride. The salesman let me get it on the interstate and cruse at 80 for a bit.
What I will be doing since it will be my DD:
  • 95% highway
  • 4% lake roads, trails, etc. (no rock climbing)
  • 1% towing for errands and a possible light camper rental from time to time
With either, I plan on adding a 2-3 inch lift just to change the look and possibly accommodate some different tires. Knowing this, would it make sense to maybe go with an aftermarket lift on the Rubicon with some Fox (or comparable) shocks that would give me the same great highway drive that the Mojave does? Again, I'm assuming that the Rubicon is less friendly on the road because of the spring/shock setup. Haven't test drove one yet.
Mojave. Because that is what I bought. And I MUST be right!

I highly doubt that every zr2 or raptor owner has gone the route of OEM replacement's. sure some have upgraded as well for a large price tag but that must be the outlier. I understand they can be rebuilt but you have to factor in the downtime associated with that process. for me the 2-3K? price tag to replace a wear and tear item wasn't something worth the trade off. perhaps the price of a rebuild kit wont break the bank
