Hey Gang,

Just wanted to toss my .02 out there for this OEM piece.
I know intakes are considered snake oil to most, but i grabbed myself one of these cold air intakes. Mopar # 77072433AC dirt cheap(i work in the industry), i would never pay full retail on an item like this of any brand but i couldn't turn it away.

I opted to NOT cut into my hood for the full "cold air" ducting that was provided with the kit. Although the instructions and all provided hardware were present. My balls shrank regardless. just couldn't do it.

Install took 30 mins max 6 screws total and a few hose clamps.
The new intake piping is rigid OEM quality, eliminates all baffles and little noise reduction pockets the factory one has, it also increases in size from throttle to the filter housing by about an inch. Filter reminds me of an AEM dry flow type. I already had this filter installed so now i have a spare for a rainy day.
Nice little piece overall and the filter cover has a cool graphic on it.

First thing i noticed was in fact a snappier throttle cruising off a light and getting up to speed on the highway.

Engine noise is a little throatier but not in a bad way.

I didn't expect much tbh, but for what i paid for it, there is no real loss and i am pleasantly surprised.

I cant say whether the outside air duct via cutting the hood will make a marginal difference or not but the theory of it kind of makes sense and the OEM parts to utilize it are nice and look very OEM stealth. It came with rivets, a template to pre mark for cuts, a bottle of loctite brand adhesive (epoxy), and a nice factory piece to cover the hole area with a flap that only opens when air is being sucked in.

I have them on both my Gladiator and wife’s Wrangler, my seat of pants feel was more power at high end , sounds great ….BUT you will not receive any positive reply’s to your post from many people that do not have one. Comments will be worse power and MPG ,all kinds of comments about oiled filter problems with the filter , the factory air intake was designed by Jeep so it is all that is needed, it will suck hot air from engine compartment, there is no benefit from having a less restrictive air flow to the throttle body, and the Mopar one is not fancy enough it almost looks factory!
There that should cover it I love mine it is one of the very few that still uses the grill intake hole, uses only paper filters including factory if you want, it was Designed by Jeep and is available from factory as an option, does not suck air from engine compartment, does give you much more access to around driver side of engine compartment , does increase the air box and removes the baffles on air box lid.
I am not a fan of the hood opening and gave mine away as I think it allows more dirt and water in then the fender inlet, but yup I love it looks great, I feel the difference , perhaps, maybe, probably, and it sounds great . …..Jack

Just Do It 😎!! Love mine nothing beats OE! BTW the flap doesn’t move it’s just a cover/plug to snap in to block rain or snow. Been through both never a problem! Coupled mine with a AWE tread exhaust and a Sprintbooster. Big difference opening up that 3.6L. And to all the naysayers, spend the money and buy those items and you’ll be a believer too…😉

Ok I’ve been a believer in CAI and have had a few on different vehicles. But since I’ve seen a couple videos on YouTube that I have no link to but are easy to find, of multiple comparisons of most brands. In every one the K&N proves on a dyno, side by side before and after. The ones I watch were for a 2014 Charger I owned so I looked one up, very similar but mine was a R/T AWD, the one on the dyno a reg R/T, that gained the most overall HP with K&N, most tq at lower rpm was MOPAR, that was also the most expensive. Then I had them on a couple Silverados and Avalanche, finally my 2024 Gladiator Sport S, I have a K&N on the dyno shows an 11 hp gain at peak, plus 7-5 lbs in tq at peak and original higher peak. All received an increase in mileage between 2-6 mpg highway 2-4 city, ONLY IF you’re trying to get the most! But as soon as you start listening to the increase intake roar? The mileage drops! But that’s logical because wider throttle openings. I must add I’ve been using K&N from the beginning in early 1970’s, I believe were the first.

I don't know man, I wouldn't let my engine turn into a vacuum cleaner sucking all kinds of particles that the K&N lets through just for a few extra HP. There are better high flow filters than K&N oiled media. Lab tests prove they are terrible at filtering. They do provide more flow but at a cost.

But I’ve never heard of that. The only downside I’ve heard about is in Toyotas, they say that just a little too much oil on the filter might coat the O2 sensor in the intake and ruining it. But after 50+ years and hundreds of thousands of miles I’ve never had any particle problems. I also change my oil with full synthetic at no longer than 6,000-8,000 miles depending upon how many miles highway or off road dusty conditions I cover. Oh and CLEAN the filters using proper cleaning agents and wringing out and drying overnight.

I put the Mopar CAI on my Overland. I moved it to my High Altitude when I traded. I didn't install the hood cutout. I use the paper filter instead of the washable filter. It performs well, and I like the bit of added noise.

Next time you have the K&N filter out to clean it, just hold it up to a light after cleaning. The visible holes in it should involuntarily cause whatever arm/hand is holding it to throw it directly into the nearest trash receptacle.

Old thread, I know, but if anyone still has the bezel, I’d really like to buy it

I’m not in the habit of throwing $$$ away! Instead of throwing it away, then spending $20-$30 every of the next 10-12k miles on an actual throw away paper filter. I’ll just re-clean the K&N Oil/Cloth media superior performance and re-install it. Saving enough to pay for itself by the third time including the cleaning kit.

Jus tfound this thread and wanted to ask if any of you still have the bezel you're not using. I bought my galdiator with a snorkel on it but want to remove it and keep the rest. Just need to close up the hole in the hood.

So this looks to be the only option that still utilized the bottom air box which is what I need since I have that modified for the Bravo Snorkel… are there any OTHER options that are the top lid replacement and tube that still goes on the factory bottom box? Giving up the snorkel is not an option. Thanks!

Only one I saw , but I still think it is one of best, and tying in your snorkel should be simple swap out of lid and tube, the tube is huge and you will be able to see your power steering box when done! I run the off-road only filter it came with in both our Jeeps and am very happy with it…Jack
