My concern (conspiracy theory) is that my JT has been sitting at the dealership where this Service Tech works, for 9 working days. I fear someone could dump some gasoline in my tank. The Service Tech May feel a need to be proven right by the test.
Anything is possible I guess, but that seems remote in my opinion it would happen. There is risk of him getting caught also if the placed is wired for video and most techs are not that emotionally invested in any job they do of being right as they and their mind have moved on to the next job.

Unless you are willing to make that accusation with his management and push the point, it is not worth getting yourself riled up over a scenario that true or untrue, is out of your control regardless.

Grab a sample directly from the tank and have it test. You can goes after the dealer or station depending on test results.

I live in Lake Havasu too, and. have a diesel gladiator I purchased from the local dealer. Generally, I’ve had pretty good service from them and pretty good service. Their service manager has always been good to deal with. The only exception being when one of their mechanics (probably) overfilled my engine at the first oil change and blew the front crank seal. It took about six trips back to finally get that fixed. The fuel pump thing is scary, but won’t get fixed until Jeep decides to ship the replacement pumps - and no one knows when that will be. I buy my gas from Maverick when I’m on that end of town and have had no problems from either location in Havasu. Please keep us posted on your progress. I’m pretty concerned about how the dealer handles this because itā€˜s my dealer too.

Latest info.
Anderson CJDR in Lake Havasu City has declined warranty coverage. Their claim is that there is contaminants in the fuel. First it was gasoline, but two subsequent fuel samples passed the Vapor Flame test. Also I cannot detect any foreign ā€œsmellā€ in the fuel samples. So now it’s ā€œsome other contaminantā€œ.
I am now forced to submit an insurance claim. Anderson will not start repair process until they receive confirmation of coverage.

I know you are in a jam, but I would suggest trying to get Stellantis corporate involved. That is pretty open ended of just leaving it at "some other contaminant".

What kind of contaminant and what micron rating and if large enough why did the fuel filter not catch it is what I would be asking? For all you know, the fuel pump could have took a shit and that is a known issue.

Getting Stellantis corporate involved may mean having it moved to another dealership for a second opinion.

Very sorry to hear this. One of the reasons I’ve purchased two vehicles from them is because I’ve had good luck (mostly) with their service department. I’ll be watching your outcome closely. If it were mine, I would also send a fuel sample to an independent lab, if you can find one.

It’s also not the dealership denying warranty. This went up to FCA and FCA denied warranty unless it’s different in the States.

Too bad it’s not as simple as coolant consumption in your engine or glycol contamination in the transmission. Both very acceptable to FCA as normal and nothing wrong.

Do you have it in writing when the dealer claimed it was gasoline in the system? Got to reach out to FCA regarding this incompetent troubleshooting or lied. Take it to another dealer if possible.

Edit: I have a feeling that some dealers rather not perform big jobs like this under warranty. They makes more if paying by the customers. Hopes I'm wrong.

A little gas in diesel won't trash a motor. Hell 20% gas by volume won't trash a motor.

OP's CP4 took a shit and it sent particles all through the fuel system. I bet that is what they are seeing as ā€œsome other contaminantā€œ.

Thanks guys, lots of questions and suggestions too. I appreciate them all.
I do have a case opened with Jeep Wave (Stellantis). Also with my insurance carrier USAA. I prefer if it’s handled by Stellantis.
service Manager, James, claims that if they send it in for warranty recovery, and that factory finds contamination, they (dealership is on the hook. I calmly replied ā€œBSā€. The dealer fixes the truck. Factory denies coverage. Owner is on the hook. Dealer holds truck until bill is paid.
They are being very Stiff Necked about it. It’s like I hit his grandchild in the face or something. He said they won’t even order parts until they see a claim from USAA.
I could haul the truck to the dealer in Bullhead City, but it’s owned by Anderson too.

Is Brent no longer the service manager? He was always pretty good to deal with. It could be another situation entirely if he’s gone.
