Does the dealership have the ability to service the diesels, if you wanted to go that route? Seems they wouldn’t keep a diesel mechanic on staff for the one Jeep in town, and you might not get the best eyes on it.

I’m considering one after this thread as I tow, frequent mountains, and want larger tires but don’t want to regear. Only issue is I don’t drive much anymore now that I work from home, and am thinking diesel might not be best choice for that, though I do have a long ride monthly of 3hr round trip.

I looked hard between the diesel and petrol version. 2 reasons I went with the 3.6: I really didn't like all the exhaust sensors and readers coming off the exhaust line. I watched a good video about how each one of those can be an expense if you damage. And the 3.6 has been around a while. It's neither overwhelming nor underwhelming (call it "whelming"). In my mind they've figure out the kinks, the forums are extensive, and they work for what you need them to.

Finally, if your going to tow, watch Trail Recon's video on his diesel - I believe he had cooling issues going over high altitude passes. Might want to consider that as well.

Finding, getting and quitting jobs. Because they all suck.
I'd thumbs down a diesel anything that isn't pre-1997 (dating myself here ?). But where I live nothing running the Holy Oil will start at -50F unless you plugged it in with a battery charger / warmer, oil pan heater, transmission pan heater AND block heater with a combined rating of 1500W draw. And use a double dose of Howe's every tank.

Then your household circuit breaker pops at 0300 in the morning anyway and it's a cryogenic lawn ornament when your trying to get to work. Up here people build garages before they build houses.

Or if you live in your truck, common up here, it just idles 24/7 for 6 months straight every winter. So much for saving on fuel costs! I've owned two diesels and given up on them. At least gassers START.

Neighbor used to put a big pan of charcoal under his semi in the winter. And tarped around the sides of semi to keep the heat in.

And that's no joke. Done it myself. Of course, I guess I forgot that DEF freezes too. Guess that would be another heater.

I heard a rumor that the whole DEF thing started with a Kentucky Derby horse stable owner that was trying to figure out how to sell his excess horse piss. Then he met an EPA guy at the races...

***UPDATE***
10:00 PM just got home with it. Very happy, power/torque is great, ZERO diesel fumes inside or out, I went and sniffed at the tailpipe while filling up, NO diesel smell at all, kinda miss my 2006 mega cab Cummins 300/600 loud Mack truck turbo sound and fumes though. This turbo is almost silent, but engine still sounds and pulls like a diesel which is fully BAD*SS!

First impression the steering is tighter, noticeably less wandering than my 2022 3.6 Gladiator had. My 2022 has Gorilla Glass windshield, the 2023 does not apparently, the decal isn't on there. Cloth seats in the 23' are not as comfortable as the genuine imitation leather seats in my 22', will be swapping those unless I can find a set of OME brown genuine imitation leathers somewhere.

I see the marketplace getting more and more entranced with big screens and extreme tech in the vehicles and more plush, luxurious interiors etc, but I wouldn't trade the diesel and the simplicity of analog gauges and basic 8" screen. My TRX had a 12" screen and I hated it, going through menus and dicking around with it while trying to drive was ridiculous, I never used 90% of those apps. So yeah I think the 2023 Gladiator is a great balance of useful easy to use tech, power, torque solid axle easy to drive and park, easy to mod and a badass stereo with great subwoofer (suggestion crank all Metallica from Master Of Puppets and Justice for thorough audio quality check and to gain full appreciation). Just all around fun truck. Thanks for the input everyone!
**UPDATE END**

The price is irresistible, NEW 2023 Gladiator/Rubi Diesel. $18,000 off MSRP

I have a gas Gladiator and love it, so much fun, I will never be without a jeep again but the Diesel. I want it bad Im not worried about DEF, but has Jeep massaged out the 3.0 issues for 2023?
I couldn't resis

I could not resist either. The ecodiesel perfect for the Gladiator too bad they stop production of it.

Yeah.....they finally got a great motor for the JT/JL. Instead of doing little yearly up-dates to it. They dump.

I gave up on diesels before they went ultra low sulfur. Knew it was going to open a can of worms.

The fuel pump in the 3.0 Gladiator is not designed to function with U.S. diesel. You need to increase the lubricity of the fuel and it has to be constant.

Personally, I wouldn't get one, they have no balls to them.
With the Derringer and an intake, I’m spinning at 60 miles an hour traction control kicks in when I punch it. I’m around 530 foot pounds of torque right now with all the Boltons

Don't waste any time get the diesel!!! We have 4 total 3 Jt's and 1 Jlurd zero issues 125k miles in! I have owned 30 plus Jeep's and used them for everything from ranch work, to off road to daily driver literally 100's of thousands of miles. I've had 2 392's hands down in my opinion the best Jeep combination ever built is the diesel! I bought a spare because I heard they were going to discontinue. You will love it !!! Nothing compares in my opinion plus you'll get awesome fuel mileage as a bonus
As spare engine or another spare gladiator lol?

If you want one, if it suits your needs first, and your wants as well, where's the problem?
Are you looking for a push one way or the other? Why?
If you want a Gladiator and feel the diesel is the engine that will make you happy - Nike has a slogan for that.
