I’m looking for the "perfect" wheel, I’m running around on a 2” AEV spacer lift and looking at a 35x12.5R17 or 315/70R17. I can’t figure out which wheel specs I should go with because I’m looking for about a 1-2” poke outside the fenders look, I don't want a tire sticking out 4-5" from the fenders.

First, how much difference is there in the 17x8.5 or 17x9 question on a 12.5" tire, is it a concern?

Edit: I understand the Rubi/Mojave/Max Tow come with 3/4" wider axles than the 'normal' Sport/Overland trims.

My understanding is a 12.5” tire specs for a 8.5” wide rim fine. I just ordered +25 in method 705’s, I was trying to keep tire inside fenders with a 37” BFG C rated KO2 . You want a 0 or - if you want poke. I think OE is +44.

Rugged Ridge XHD 17"x9" -12mm / 4.53" backspacing, 35"x12.5" Delium Terra Raider, Superlift Suspension 4" lift. Has 2" poke maybe a little more, I intend to go up to 37" when these are done:

Go with 37s, you won't regret it.

That is a good point.

Rubi, Mojave, Max Toe, and High Altitude all have wide axles. 3/4" wider per side.

I went with the ICON rebound pro's which can be purchased through americas tire or discount tire direct. The offset doesnt matter as much as the backspace. You need clearance from the inner fender and control arms with wider tires. 4.5" for non wide axle models (rubicon or max tow).

Here are the specs for the wheels I used

17x8.50"5x54.500"-6mm71.50mm3200 lbs

Very little poke out from the fenders. Maybe 1" on each side with a 38"x13.50" tire.

Thanks... so if the wide axles are out ~2", then my Overland will be at 1"... I'm not looking for wheels that poke out 5-6".

You got it.

The same wheels will be tucked about 3/4" more on yours compared to a Rubi, Mojave, etc.
