Owner of 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon with Premium Alpine System. The factory system wasn't what I would call Premium sound. Seemed to have enough power just was muddied and sounded like shit when cranked up. Did some research and figured I would update my experience.

What I wanted was some clean sound when cranked with windows/roof/doors off, so I could hear the system. I decided to replace speakers instead of biting the bullet $3k $4k on a completely new system. I'll add this, while I researched this it became apparent that this whole system is designed as a component system and as such ohm's of the same impedance or close that was designed for the system make a difference. I'm by no means an audiophile but have enjoyed loud clear tunes in all my rigs.

Now what i did.
-Replaced dash speakers with Infinity Ref 307F, filled speaker enclosure with polyfill, very easy job. Heard a difference.
-Replaced knee kick speakers with Infinity Ref 607F, Metra JP-1014 pods, filled pod enclosure with polyfill. Heard a big difference with this. It is a time consuming and nerve rattling job, but well worth the effort.
-Replaced sound bar speakers with Infinity Ref 607CF component speakers, SSV Works JJT-SA065 adapter (sucks you have to cut the soundbar but looks way better in my opinion and you'll never see the cut), filled the sound bar voids with polyfill. The Whole system came alive, very loud and clear. Night and Day!

First time writing in any forum, just wanted to let people know my experience with it being such a good one. For something like $550-$600 from Crutchfield (they even give you the speaker adapters) made my truck sound great. Well worth the money spent and the time and effort to install.

ps. When conducting a sound test use Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back. If it handles that, not much it won't.

I’ve been contemplating an upgrade this summer. Good info for me to consider.

Thanks for the write up. Great choices to consider and great track!

May I suggest Pink Floyd's The Division Bell for a sound check? 30 to 40 seconds has good tweeter tones. At 52 seconds a bass drum kicks in that would be barely audible on a stock system. At 1:02 a bass guitar strum is also only rich on a properly tuned system. It also contains spoken word with background.

Thanks for the write up. Long time metal head and good choice for songs but I feel to really hear the difference in sound, classical is the way to go. Maybe Pachabel Canon in "D" or even better, Canon Rock! Just my $ .02

I've been contemplating this option and appreciate the detail. Did similar on a previous Jeep ( speaker replacement only) and was quite satisfied.

[PS - was the entire kit from Crutchfield?]

I can dig it. Steeley Dan, Boston and Def. Pink Floyd few other good options.

I have been contemplating doing the same thing. Did you get the knee kick speaker 6" speaker upgrade?. Either way I bet it sounds bad ass...

I’m honesty pretty happy with the sound of my Alpine system. It’s pretty clear and loud enough. My beef is the soundbar plastic rattling and it’s done it since new. It’s sporadic and goes away if I press on it. I’ve yet to find the source of the rattle, but I also gave up on it years ago.

Didn’t purchase as a kit. I installed the 3.5’s in the dash first. Then just got around to doing the 6.5’s in the knee kick and soundbar. Definitely worth it. Here is a few pictures and yes I realize they are Focal grill covers, Didn’t use the Infinity’s, couldn’t fit them correctly they are junk and had these lying around.

DITTO on the sound bar rattle - comes and goes and I've done the same attempt at isolating the rattle when it pops up, contorting and applying pressure here and there...

What would be the loss to do this upgrade but skip the knee speakers?

It was a big difference from the stock speakers very evident. I would do it again, knowing what I know now. It’s a pain of a job but follow one of the videos online, get a magnetic tray for the screws(I think they were all the same screws) and take your time. One thing if you do it, taking out and putting in the drivers side pods are a tight fit. It will fit maybe easier with a heat gun instead of 40* weather like I had.

Did you happen to have the sound bar “rattle “ or vibration prior to installing the updated speakers? How much of the polyfill was applied in the sound bar area when the new speakers were installed? Definitely going to update but want to figure out the fix for the speaker bar noise before dropping new speakers in. I’ve not checked the almighty “YouTube “ for this issue I’d rather get info from someone not trying to get followers.

Didn’t have any noise or rattle coming from the soundbar. I stuffed the void completely with as much as I could get into it. I might try doing that with the stock speakers see if it goes away. If that doesn’t work maybe take it down re-install with some thin rubber backing I guess.
