Breaker bar with a 13mm deep socket.

I posted on here in the fall about installing the Quadratec dead pedal. I had no problem removing that 13 mm nut. But after installing as per the instructions, when I stepped on the brake pedal I would feel a slight pulse in the dead pedal. That was almost completely solved when I added an extra washer at the 13 mm bolt. I really have no idea why that could resolve the issue... but it did.

Another member said to do that, I would not in a lifetime have thought of that on my own.

I have been very happy with mine, going on 6 months now.

If I had a 13 mm nut handy, that would be a breeze. Since I don't I'm in the same boat as OP & local hardware store closes before I get off work. Out here trying to bang the he!! out of a closed end socket but it won't budge. Doesn't help that it's in a tight spot where you can't use a mallet or leverage it with another wrench. There's an auto mechanic 4 doors down from where I work and wouldn't you know it, they're closed for the week. I thought this would be the easiest mod I've done yet...

Read back. I said use a 13mm closed end wrench to break it loose.

It takes a silly amount of force to break the but loose. I smashed my finger into something when it finally turned.

And I replied that I had been trying to break mine free with a closed end wrench. Not being a jerk here, but I'm literally using the same thing and can't get it to budge. Don't have a deep socket in 13 mm or I feel sure I could get it. Have more tools at home than in my Jeep so hoping I can get it tonight.

I couldn't get it to budge with a deep well with and without an extension. I have a hard time anyway because I have extremely painful arthritis in my wrist and thumb. It finally broke free with the wrench and some choice words.

I went by Advance Auto on my way home to see if they had a 13mm nut. I told the story to those teenage boys and they took it as a challenge. One of them finally got it and I tipped him $20. I too now have a dead pedal.

I should add, it takes a little getting used to. From years of driving manuals it’s an odd feeling resting my foot there. I’m sure in a few months it will feel weird not to have one when driving other vehicles.
