I think I’m going to remove the rear glass and put an accordion boot on for a pass through to the camper shell. But I really want to find pics of someone else trying it first! If anyone has seen it please send it my way.

Also count me in too for a vote for retractable window.
I've seen this done in the past and it's horrible in practice because the HVAC system isn't designed for that kind of volume. The cap makes the bed hot which saps all the cool air from the cab and the A/C can't keep up.

Lol, I think you guys are asking too much. I'm pretty sure there are a few members that would be ecstatic if it just didnt leak.
I wasn’t aware that there was a big leak issue. That sucks. Maybe if it ever rained in Southern California I’d find one too.

I'd be satisfied if it wasn't there. A solid window would be fine. Chances are I'll never open it anyway.

I think an easy solution already exists. I want to measure the glass on a JL hard top and see how it compare to a JT. Then it’s a matter of removing the glass, adding a clip on gasket, and securing the hinge to the roof. (I’m sure it’s not that easy but a boy can dream) it would even allow the rear defrost functionality to be retained and visibility increased when the slider track and gaskets are removed.

Wouldn't work even if they were the same size. The bottom of the JL top is completely open because the rear door holds the window in place and completes the seal. Don't have that on the JT, would just flop around if it were hinged at the top like a JL.

Anything is possible... There's a guy on ExpeditionPortal that has extensively modified a handful of Jeep hard tops. If you've got the tools and the knowhow, this is a pretty trivial ask.

So what? It could be there and wouldn’t affect the operation of the window. It’s not really that far out of a switch

Y’all are thinking way too hard on this. Geez, just slide the damn thing open when ya want and slide it closed when ya don’t want. It works. It’s simple and reliable. No need to change it just ‘cuss you e run out of other things to change.

That is interesting... You might have something there. I've never really cared one way or another about the small, manual rear window, because I never really use it, and all my trucks have toppers. Additionally, I'm follicularly and melaninly challenged, so like you, I want the top on (I'm even going to order mine painted). That comes off from the inside, and topper windows usually do about the same or at least fold down (I forget). That could actually make for a usable pass through in a light camping situation... You have my attention.

A bit more info. Glass cured, so i was able to take the window out to see how it looks finally. This is a removable glass window panel. It pops in and out in seconds. It is not mechanical/motorized. This is currently a one off, but will be going into production. I will pass along more info when i have it.
