not sure why I'm here or responding honestly, but futzin' what in the world are you doing here? you think it's too expensive, everybody gets it already...

wait and buy a used one or be disappointed when the new Bronco is $50k.

p.s. my tinfoil hat theory. Jeep has a surplus of parts or is trying to hit a money target, all orders are "forced" with that package until they meet those targets.

I've been emailing back and forth with my salesman since this thread started trying to get reassurance that my order placed on Saturday, Nov. 2, did not have these requirements. He has confirmed that these requirements are now in place and also confirmed that I must have barely got my order in before the new requirements went into effect. He says he does not know if these would be permanent requirements. I, for one, have the same theory as JRW (above) that these are instituted to assist with certain production quotas for certain product combinations, but HUGE assumption on my part. And I can totally see canceling my order if these requirements get levied onto my order when it hits production. I didn't add any of these options, nor do I want them. If I have to accept things I don't want, I'll cut out the wait and go get one off the lot.

TO the OP, any chance something already on a dealer's lot has close to what you want?

I picked my new Rubi 2 weeks ago.
Manual Trans
LED lights,
Cold pkg
8.4 screen and audio
front trail cam.
33" MT tires

That's it. No bed liner, cargo mgmt, leather, ACC, AUX light pod, No color matched fenders or tops. etc... Had to search on Autotrader with a 100 mile radius. But found it. If you can find one for MSRP of $50k, you can negotiate them to $45k. Does that work for you?

Yeah, I know I came off strong. I'm not running down the truck. I want one. Those that are content with a $2000 increase, rock on and enjoy.

And by the way, I don't care what the Bronco costs; if the value meets the cost then I'll consider it. (Knew I shouldn't have said the B word on this forum!).

Careful, not allowed to question pricing . . . supposed to take whatever we're told. I guess that's a Jeep thing too.

Personally, I'm hoping this is temporary. My local dealer has 26 JTs on the lot not moving. I'm wondering if this is a
temporary measure to encourage inventory purchases.

what in the world are you doing here?
To learn about a product I'm interested in buying and how much it may cost. And to enjoy it along the way. Mostly, that has happened . . . mostly. To think and speak independently on this forum in certainly a risk.

Sucks that these unwanted features are being forced. I suspect as others do that this is is related to quota's or something to do with non moving dealer lot inventories.

I had been planning to order a JT in the next month or so but will wait and see if this is temporary. Really don't want to pay for junk I don't need or want. Avoiding unwanted options/packages, was my whole reason for ordering since I have yet to see a JTR how I want on any lot close to me.

Ordered mine yesterday - 11/13/2019 - I already had LED and Safety Group on the to order list - dealer called back and said he had to add proximity locks to get order to go thru.

They’re forcing these options on the wrangler buyers as well. I agree with many who do not want this safety group I specifically ordered my Rubicon wrangler without it and hoping to order my 2021 gladiator without it as well. Fingers crossed it’s a temporary forced addition. When the new order guides come out that will hopefully tell us something.

A few years ago I ran into a similar scenario with a custom order Ram. I didn't want to be forced into a couple options that were now mandatory (according to the dealer's order screen). If I remember correctly there was an option the dealer could check "already/previously ordered" and it would override the newer configuration and the hope was that FCA would have to honor the already-ordered configuration. Dealer was unsure whether or not it would work, but when the truck arrived, it was exactly as wanted, without the additional (now required) options. Just a thought.

It's a shame (if not sketchy) the "Build your jeep" on the official Jeep site doesn't keep in sync with the dealer order system. My special order JT on the dealer site came out $200 higher than what was currently advertised on the public site ($100 more on each of two options). To me that's a clear false advertising claim and just ain't right. If I was a stickler I would have pushed it, but this time around, after much negotiation I feel the dealer was fair when all was said/done.

I JUST ORDERED MINE ABOUT A WEEK AGO. HAD TO TAKE THOSE AS WELL. DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS A REQUIREMENT FROM JEEP. I WAS A BIT MIFFED ABOUT IT. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL.

Anyone ordered a Rubicon lately? Are they still forcing these options?

I ordered mine the 27th. They were “required”. I know the guy who did the order and he wouldn’t lie to me. I wanted proximity anyways, so I didn’t care.

The proximity entry is pretty awesome. I have been driving a Tacoma with it and I can’t live without it now. I have to wear a suit for work and fumbling with keys sucks. I’ll have remote start now, so there may be fumbling from inside my work. The safety stuff is dumb. But oh well.

I started mine with my phone the other day (granted, it's Overland, but still.........) and it took 30 seconds for the command to get through and you have to use a PIN for security but it worked. I figured if I was not yet retired and wanted to start my vehicle out in the parking lot I could. Quite a few people tried to get to work early to park in the "better spots" because they were visible from the building - with this setup that isn't necessary. It's uconnect through the free trial period but heck, while it lasts. I also figure if I'm ever at a place where it's hard to find the truck (HAHAHA - like you can't easily pick out a hydro blue pearl JT in a crowd) I could use my phone to flash lights and honk the horn to find it. (ADHD - I forget where I parked and have trouble finding things so for now am thankful there are few of these in parking lots)

I ordered mine on 11/29 and I was told I had to add the Safety Group which I was not planning on getting.

Similar to my build, except it was the LED and proximity locks I already had.

Then my sales guy calls me with the news about the 'mandatory bundling' of these three options and now the build has to include the safety group.

Says to me: 'No biggie. It'll improve your trade or re-sale value down the road.' :surprised:

Value added?

One thing my wife insisted on was the safety stuff....... I checked the other stuff but she "told me" the JT would have the safety stuff. After having it on her Grand Cherokee, and after my Dad was killed by a sleeping driver that crossed the center line over to the other shoulder - I believe all vehicles should have at least some of those features. If I was looking to buy used - I'd pay more for one with those things now and I wish the JT had lane departure built in.
I know two people who would be alive, and another who went into a care facility at age 18 who would not be there had vehicles been equipped with certain safety things. Mercedes has for years.
More sleeping idiots and distracted drivers and those who never paid attention in class on the roads these days - since they won't take those people off the roads, at least make the vehicles compensate for their lack of caring for others on the road.
That's my take.......
