I wonder how hard it would be to swap in the full time 4wd auto transfer case on a sport s? I would love the 4wd auto mode.

There is a thread on it in the wrangler forum from a few years ago. It's possible, probably not practical. Would probably be cheaper to buy a used S and sell your rig.

Looking back, I think now I should have bought the X with the full-time 4x4 instead of the standard Rubicon. I never realized it was such an "in demand" thing by many people. Probably would have added value to the vehicle. I could have had one for about 4k more than the Rubicon I purchased and had the leather power seats and full-time 4x4. My reasoning was just more complexity and more to go wrong. Still happy with what I purchased for the price but every time someone mentions he/she wishes they had the full-time 4x4 drive, it makes me wonder, what if ....????

I went a different direction, as I didn’t want the auto transfer case since I want to use my rig for rock crawling. I just didn’t need another failure point in the transfer case.

I have heard that a lot of the guys who bought the 392 that has the full time transfer case had problems with it.
Check out Trail Recon for his reason for getting rid of his Wrangler.

And yet he was touting the virtues of the 4xe - which ALL come with the auto transfer case.
I wonder how many run in 4HA when maybe 4L would be better or 4H part time

My two cents...

Long story..

My guess. Not facts... but...

The 392 JL had full time 4wd ONLY because that 392 puts out serious HP and if Jeep kept them 2wd / 4wd selectable, people would blow out the rear 44 or driveshaft. Keeping it always in 4wd would share the power front and back. The 392 is a monster.

My JT Mojave, 2021 model, has the select trac... 2wd, 4 Auto, 4 Hi, N, 4Lo. It works on a clutch system when in 4 Auto. Like the 392 JL. But my Mojave with 3.6 puts out around 300HP.... the 392 is close to 500HP!

The 392 JL's burned up the 4 Auto clutch. Because of the power and because it was ALWAYS in mandated 4 wd auto.

I have used my 4 Auto function in my JT for a few years in winters without issue.

So, is it a bad system for Gladiators? No, within HP and torque

The 392 was something I talked about for years. I have one in my wife's Challenger. My concern was axles and driveline. I said, they will never do it because the 44 axle can't handle it. I was wrong, they did it, ɓut with mandatory 4wd. They kinda cheated. Lol

I got it in my Mojave X.
I spent hours looking into this - dozens of dealer web sites, capturing their photos and window stickers and so on. It only shows up on the build sheet.
I have a Mojave X
Not on the window sticker but is on the build sheet and is in the marketing pamphlet from Jeep.

This is what I found on every Rubicon X or Mojave X on a dealer lot, and this is mine -

I've got snips from dealership photos as well.
I was looking for Selec-Trac when shopping. Mine was right on the Mojave sticker though. Weird the variance in being in it or not. I heard something about Jeep swapping out the option later as availability came and went so maybe thats caused the situation. I got my 24 in Feb 25. I could not resist the dramatic price cuts.

Wow, looks like they might have discontinued the full time 4WD system??
Here is my window sticker.

Yes, when I was shopping at the beginning of the year (for a 2024 model), the Full Time 4x4 was a line item on the Rubicon X package window sticker. I see it nowhere on the 2025 window stickers I have pulled up. Seems to me it's more than just an error or omission. Now I'm thinking about driving to one of the nearby dealerships here and look inside a 2025 X to see what the shifter looks like.
It’s right there in the optional equipment column - as it should be.
part time is listed as standard, unless replaced by optional equipment.

I plow in 4HA and that's a ton of back and forth, stop and start, medium then full power. You can use jscan to watch how the clutches work, and it's not always how people assume.

Not on mine or hundreds of others, it's not. Want to see my window sticker or those of many others?
Sorry, it's not there on any I researched. Not listed. Even dealer was baffled. Go check out other threads on this.
I never found it in a single 25 window sticker, and worse, it's not listed at all in the big order guide! Not anywhere under any name or code. I have the PDF

Yes, but it is not listed in the new 2025s. If you read the thread you’ll see it explained. Shadowspapa showed it is in the photos on various dealers websites but it is not listed on the window sticker.

It does seem strange they would list the full-time 4x4 it on the 2024's but not on the 2025's (window stickers).

Even more strange it's part of the X package but is the one thing NOT listed as part of the X package on the dealer order guide.
