Rockslide Engineering sliders/steps any good? How's the install?

mine rattle when i hit a bump. Not sure if theres an adjustment or not.

I've got the same rattle! It bugs me... It's definitely the step. Just not sure what I can do about it, maybe just some rubber bumpers?

I called rockslide up and they told me to get a video of it . That should be fun trying to video it while hanging out the truck with my cell phone . Fucking idiots ! Never again

I can appreciate the frustration but them diagnosing something over email is tough. A video DOES help to figure stuff out, a go pro mounted there, something like that. But probably unnecessary, it's the step, not super tight to the slider. I can tap mine and tell that's what's a tiny bit loose.

You know how many times I've had the wife or a buddy drive my car/truck/van around while I crawl around trying to find the noise/smell/etc... ... plenty of times. A well mounted GoPro will do wonders in diagnosing an issue!

Anyway, RSE has these rubber pads that can be slipped over the dividers in the housing. They resolved the "clunk" of the step coming up and hitting against the divider when they sent me a set of those rubber snubbers.
I'd bet that's where the issues is as the step parts comes really close to that. Putting a piece of clay or putty of some sort on the edge of the divider and then close the step and see if that clay gets smished, or the the sounds go away.

That's the one I've got, comes in a few colors now looks like. BUT it's also way cheaper now! On sale for $135 currently! I think I paid $190, wild. Anyway, it's worked well and saved me some broken bolts, a few other people as well! I'd bet anyone with a broken body bolt would gladly pay $200 on the spot to rewind and undo that problem lol...

I’m seeing pretty big price gaps depending on vendor and wattage. Is the induction innovations vendor that much better? They’re typically 200 more for comparable stuff from solary. It seems like the highest 110v units are 1800w. I’m inclined to go big or go home if it’s a $100 difference. Thoughts @ShadowsPapa and @RacerAV? Thanks.

My wife taught me years ago- buy it once, not 2 or 3 times. And other car people taught me when I was a teen -buy the best you can afford. Making it work later costs more time and money. (they were talking cars, but tools count too, IMO.)

I wanted something that would be more useful and versatile for larger things (tired of using a torch for so much, even bending steel rods and bars). I can heat up a piece of rebar to orange in seconds and bend it into a loop to anchor coon traps to the ground - torch never touched.
Did I spend "too much" - some might say so. But using something at 70% capacity means it will last forever. Using something at 100% capacity all the time - won't last as long and I'll get impatient and frustrated.
I just figured - while I'm doing it, do it one time and be done.
I have also used it to heat pulleys and help get them off tight shafts or where they were rusted onto the shaft
