Had my rear glass replaced last week. Dealer told me there is a new part number for the back window. When I picked it up the rear glass is different than the orginal. Note the rubber seal around the glass that wasn’t there before. Dealer has a glass company do the install. So they weren’t sure if the rubber seal came with the new window or glass company added it. Happy to report that I have no leaks and it was replaced with no damage to my top.

I'm wondering if the rubber molding got installed after as a separate piece or came as 1 piece molded to the glass.

I fixed mine today using Corning liquid sealing paste. Injected into the gap with a syringe.

I'm curious how it deals with the two notches on the left and right sides....the tabs. I wonder if we can get that thing.

I hope it's a separate piece that we can buy.

These trucks are pushing $70K and I refuse to re-engineer or come up with a solution on my own. It’s under warranty and Jeeps problem. It does appear they fixed it properly under warranty without any issues.

It could be the glass company that the dealer had do the work added the seal. It’s looks factory so hard to tell without contacting them directly. I believe this is the glass company that did the work.

Do you have a part number or product number for the "Corning liquid sealing paste"?

I should add that mine is a 2020. I raised my eyebrows when she said this is not covered under warranty but she proceeded to tell me it was covered under some good will program they have. I didn't have to pay for it so I didn't press the issue.

I just want people to know that part. Obviously, this is not normal wear and tear so even if it technically is not covered, the manufacturer should cover these costs one way or the other, and it seems like there is this "good will" thing that I assume is an allowance by the manufacturer to cover issues exactly like this.

Mama always said; don't buy the first year of anything.

2021s and 2022s can develop the same problem.

Here's a photo of the paste.
The viscosity and dried up texture are very similar to electrical liquid tape. I used a syringe with a curve tip.

I didn't wanted to jam anything between the glass and the top.

Looks closely in the gap and you will see that, there's a factory black primer coating on the fiberglass hardtop side. That's what separated on mine, right above center of the sliding window.

Talked to the glass company. Super nice, professional guy. He said that gasket is something they did themselves, it needs to applied BEFORE the glass is installed, using the correct sealers etc. Not something we do it yourselfers can add. He indicated the process to replace those windows is a total pain in the ass and that they usually end up leaking again. He also said it is very easy to scratch the top when removing the glass. There is no new, revised part. If the part # has changed, it's just usual Jeep part number incrementals.
