That stuff remains sticky, so unless you put something over the top of it, debris/dirt will stick to it and look horrible.
That's correct. Will add some harness tape over it. I've done a few windshields replacement myself and nice to be able to easily remove it when time come to replace the glass.

The dealer wants to order me a new back window. The couldn’t get my window to seal correctly, it looks like there’s a defect in the glass. Waiting for a call back to see if FCA approves the order for a new window.

Im going to

bet it's the same thing that happened to me. I had 3 or 4 places my window was leaking. i suspect it is not the roof, rather the seal they put around the window, its a plastic trim glued to the glass. The leak is likely the trim cracked and its leaking behind the seal. So the seal is effectively useless. I emailed jeep cares about this and they did not repond. I had to file a claim with my insurance. I live in arizona and suspect the heat from the sun cracked the trim. Its a stupid design.

working with a stealership is exactly what we dont want to do for a window that should not leak. I had my window replaced next day over waiting weeks for a dealership to obtain approval and actually do the work. My point is that jeep cared nothing to even address the issue. Its a design flaw that should not continue to be manufactured.

Permatex attempt 1:

Leaks. I am using a 32oz spray bottle to test so it really gets in there. I'm going to put another bead over it ( this is supported according to instructions ) and try again tomorrow. The leak was cut down about 75% I'd say. Went from gushing to 4 drops after 32oz of spray.

Stalantis really has won here. They've allowed their franchisees to be so awful they don't even have warranty claims anymore because people are sick of the total lack of professionalism and customer service.

So it's actually leaks between the glass and the plastic molding and not between the top?

I took my gladi into the dealership to fix this. They got the ball rolling but, as others have said, the new part is on back order. They said the supplier is saying it should be in stock around 1/26. I'll keep my tarp handy in case it rains some more here in So Cal :)

Had my rear glass replaced last week. Dealer told me there is a new part number for the back window. When I picked it up the rear glass is different than the orginal. Note the rubber seal around the glass that wasn’t there before. Dealer has a glass company do the install. So they weren’t sure if the rubber seal came with the new window or glass company added it. Happy to report that I have no leaks and it was replaced with no damage to my top.

Nice. We should see if other people show up on here with the same seal after repair.

OOH, that's interesting. Questions:

Does the rubber molding go all the way around the glass?

Is there a seam in the rubber at the bottom, or does it appear to be a single molded piece of rubber?

What part number is on your invoice for the rear glass?

Yes the rubber is installed all the way around the window. There is a seam at the bottom center of the window.

Add me to the list for this issue. '21 JTM build date 5/21. Just discovered today while vacuuming the carpets so not sure how long this has been going on. Removed the rear all weather mats and the left side had all sorts of moisture on the bottom and the carper was damp. A quick dousing with the hose reveled a decent drip from the top center part of the window frame above the slider. Will be calling the dealer on Monday to kick this adventure off.
