We tow a 15ft. TAXA Cricket Trek. About 2000# with the extra crap (er, I mean essentials) for camping. Stock 2020 Rubicon with auto. I don't think I would want to tow anything bigger. We've lived out of that camper for six weeks and it was perfect for us. We prefer remote sites and don't need hook ups etc.

My ram 1500 pentastar 8-spd had a tow haul mode, I hadn’t even thought of that for these auto’s. Tow haul was very useful and also a must when I towed same trailer I now tow with Jeep 6-spd. You would want to use manual mode and select the gears yourself. You should be able to get that trailer down the road at less than 4500 rpm. I’m lighter and 2800-3000 is plenty.
My 95 F250 4x4 and my 2011 Silverado 4x4 both had tow modes. It modified the shifting, added flashes to the turn signal lane change and something else I can't recall now. Turned them into different trucks when towing! Oh, changed the transmission so downshifts didn't coast, applied engine braking under certain conditions.

The eco diesel seems to handle engine braking much better then the zr2 duramax did. Especially in stock form. The duramax would rev out to 4500 on a slight grade due to the way it was tuned. After I had my delete tune on it it was better but not as good as my e.d.

2021 Eco diesel, stock tires and airbags with 20psi. Did very well, better than I expected. I love the tq, wouldn't even attempted this with my old Wrangler Unlimited Rubi. Trailer has 22' box, weighs 2250lbs. Car is 2600 lbs and Jeep had 300lbs of gear in the back. I did notice the water temp would gain 20 degrees from 210 to just under 230 even on small grades.

Annual summer trip to UP Michigan, about 900 miles one way. JT didn’t even know the trailer was back there. Only about 1000lbs. Kayak and canoe were no problem either even the with heavy winds and storms. Easily cruised speed limit.

Towed my Bennington 24 foot pontoon for the 1st time today with Gladiator. i was impressed with a 20mph cross wind on a short 20 mile trip. Held 7th gear towing at 55mph (max tow 4:10 axles o 35's). Stopped well with trailer surge brakes. Actually it was about as equal to my 2017 Ram 1500 that I towed with it for the previous 3 years
Overall pretty happy

Forest River e-pro e20bhs. Bunkhouse edition has 2 small bunks in back corner with an easy access toy/gear door. You can lift the bottom bunk up and stow bikes, gear or whatever. We converted the bottom bunk to a kennel for our doggo.

The trailer is about 4k lbs I would guess loaded up fora trip. I tow using an Anderson style hitch on my diesel rubi.

Fully loaded, in hot weather, climbing and descending lots of hills (my area of Texas is quite hilly), on windy days, I get about 12 MPG on average. 14-16MPG with a mix of hills and flat highways. 16-18 mpg in cool weather on flat highways with low wind.

Not as good as I had hopped for, but really, it's not too bad considering.

Low end torque on the diesel makes getting up and going a breeze. I barely notice the trailer. On steep hills doing 60-65mph, especially on hot days, I tend to manually shift to stay in a lower gear. Wish jeep had a tow-mode.

On an especially hot day (around 99 with a heat index of 110), I lost power towing up and down hills after hitting stop and go traffic near Austin. I've read of other reports of similar issues. I took it in and they found no codes. My "fix" is to simply take it easy on hot days under heavy loads. I've towed without issues on almost as hot days without issue since. But, if it does happen again, I'm considering buying an aftermarket hood with real ram air/heat vents to see if that helps. Not worried about it now though.

Overall, I still love the truck. I have 35" nitto ridge grapplers and will buy a lift as soon as I find a reasonably priced, non-mopar, diesel specific lift.

For those who are curious.. we payed around $24k for the trailer a month or two into covid. The truck was close to $70k out the door (fully loaded minus adaptive cruise control stuff). We take it out camping and for family visits at least twice a month. We lived in it during Texas's power outage and ice storm and was grateful to have it!

We are now planning a multi-week trip through Colorado, Utah, up to Idaho (and Canada if it's open then). I'm a little nervous about such a long wheelbase on some of the trails I want to do but that's part of the fun. I came from an FJ Cruiser that was a little tippy on the rocks, so this should be an upgrade.

Going to see how she does with my 26' 3900lbs empty / 5900lbs max Trail-Lite camper. Usually about 4700lbs with propane, water, & clothes/food for a camping trip. I will be using my weight distribution hitch. Will update afterwards.

Howdy... also Austin based with a diesel Overland and GeoPro 19FBTH (3500 dry, 4500 loaded). It's weird, but I get much better mileage on hills with the cruise control off. Not hyper-miling or anything, but doing 60-65mph on the flats and down the hills, and letting the truck and rig slow to 45-55mph on the up hills if there's nobody behind. Just watching the instantaneous mileage and trying to keep it at 17mpg or higher when climbing, unless the grade is too steep. Have gotten 20mpg average pretty consistently that way. Wish Jeep built in a cruise control that didn't jump down to 4th and 4mph desperately trying to hold 60mph in the hills and mountains.

Currently boondocking in Colorado.

I could likely get a few more MPG's if I were better at green gassing it. I start out ok, but sooner or later my foot gets heavy again :)

I'm not sure what the weight differences are between our rigs, but I lost a few MPG's when I added the 35" Nitto's and wheels so maybe that's it? I've never had it officially weighed, but the land fill had me at 5200 lbs if I recall. I also live in the hills (west of Kerrville) and tend to spend time in hilly places, which kills the mileage. I'm curious though, cause I get dramatically less mileage than you.

* edit: It appears we have the same gearing. The rubi is about 100lbs heavier and assuming you have the steel bumper and rock sliders (?)and have stock wheels and tires, I'm probably about 200lbs heavier (I'm around 210lbs myself), so maybe I need a diet and stay off the gas.
