Many people like the new Rancho RS5000X.

I haven't used them though, so no personal experience.
Garbage shock. The rumor for the TJ is that these are “the most comfortable” … they’re garbage, I blew them all in 8k road miles, well mostly road… the sad part is new and blown, I couldn’t tell much a difference.

again, Icon 2.0 shocks, their most basic shock, MASSIVE comfort on road and off road and cheap-ish.

Thanks for the follow up. I did a little more searching and found plenty that are not happy with them.

Scratch that suggestion.

Find me a shock with a simple 30 day satisfaction guarantee . If you say your shocks ride great just back it up.

What’s wrong with the Rancho 9000 series?

Don't want any adjustable or exotic complicated shocks that overpromise and under deliver on ride. Don't want to spend $1K each. Don't want digressive stiff performance. Like I said, I just want some simple quality great street ride. Maybe remote reservoir for better extended travel. I.ve had it with Falcon, Fox and the like.
I wish you luck but this really probably just a challenge with personal preference.

All the suggestions in the world wont make a bit of difference, I mean you've finished with you don't want digressive and yet people are recommending Bilstein and Icon, both digressive shocks.

Yet you've also had it with Fox, a progressive shock that is typically seen as softer (especially in the 2.0 IFP).

The Falcons to my knowledge are also digressive and well noted to be sporty or firm on pavement. That's the issue, some people feel as though digressive is the way to go for great street handling, its firm and controlled and provides additional resistance to roll. Yet some, like myself, prefer progressive shocks. I drive slower and less sportingly so the floating sensation I get with the JTM shocks is great (at least, when its warm enough out).

The only advice I could possibly suggest based off your first post would be to reach out to someone like Accutune and consider getting something re-valved for your usage, but that wont be cheap or <$1000.

Beyond that, Eibach makes pretty decent shocks, but I cannot attest to their ride on the JT. They are however <$1000. I could never get a clear answer but they appear to be progressively valved, I had them on my Tundra and they felt as much. Very comfortable ride, IMO. I had both the 6112/5160 Billsteins and the Eibach 2.0 on that Tundra and was suprised to enjoy the cheaper, smaller Eibachs, more.

As was said above, the ride is so subjective. One persons plush is another persons stiff.
Although a different vehicle, I put the 9000’s on my wife’s 22 JLU, and she took one ride down our broken up highway and said take them off. I ended up changing them back to stock. She found them that stiff. Even on the first setting. I agree they were stiffer than stock. I didn’t care for them.
I’ll be calling accutune when I need new ones for my JT.

I've really enjoyed the Eibach on my JT. I will say after 3k miles and adding heavy AEV wheels, they now feel softer than I prefer. The rebound from wheel mass is a little beyond Eibach's capacity. I have a diesel too so that has some to do with it.

It's definitely subjective. I prefer a little more stiffness for road manners, but I took what I could find in budget and in stock.

I replaced my Eibach 2-4 “ lift shocks because I was tired of the expansion joints in the road being so harsh feeling. I replaced them with the fox 2.5 IFP (JKS) . They are a bit short in length but have not been an issue as of yet. Smoothed out the ride considerably

EDIT : I have since swapped the front Fox shocks back to the Eibach. Fox was to soft to the point of feeling bumpsteer on the road . Eibach eliminated that by being a bit stiffer shock . Live and learn I guess soft synergy 3" spring may of contributed also .

I had some 5100's on a lifted JK and they rode stiff. They have digressive valving where Fox is more progressive. I finally went with MC Rockshocks and they were the best ride. I am leaning toward the Fox 2.0s for an off the shelf fix.
Shocks can feel different when used on different vehicles. The 5100s on my LJ ride a bit stiff, but the same shocks on my JT are rather smooth.
