Been hearing alot about to much play in the steering. That is just another thing I will have to check out before I take custody of my overland Friday. Any other inputs would be helpful.

I drove mine about 200 miles tonight after I picked it u...

air pressure at 42 and the thing wanders and bounces like it is riding on balloons...

36 psi and it all evened out...

I had a few f-150's prior to the Taco and the Fords drove great, the Taco a bit old school and the Jeep in that same camp...

feels like one of my Dodge Rams from the late 90's but with electric assist that enhances the wandering feel...

but was comfortable at the end of the drive back to old school driving with new school vehicle.:jk:

I was just about to start a thread about Jeeps and there Drunk driving . I was actually pulled over one time in my previous wrangler for not keeping it between the lines , The officer was not impressed when I said "it's not me it's was a JEEP thing" lol . I bought my Rubicon Gladiator without test driving it , I just thought that they would have fixed the problem with the all new Gladiater , but nooooo . May have to a Jeep AA meeting :)

Hey B345T, I picked my white rubicon up yesterday also (I too am in grimes). Traded my F150 King Ranch and JKU. Gladiator drives much straighter than a JKU with a lift and 37’s, but wanders MUCH more than the F150. I ran 37lbs of nitrogen in the tires on the drive home.

Reducing tire pressure incrementally and installing an aftermarket adjustable steering dampener helped my Rubicon settle down on the steering issues. Had a lot of wandering and bump steering initially, over-inflated tires were the worst for the bump-steering. I feel like the dampener helps keep it from over-reacting as much as well.

With almost 7k miles, mine has “calmed down” quite a bit. Not sure if i just got used to it or what. Don’t do the semi-truck shuffle like it had originally.

I had to laugh - My other Wrangler 97 on 37"'s get me a lot of official attention here at the NJ Shore - between road, tire and ocean winds - " Good Evening Sir - License registration and insurance - Sir have you had anything to drink this evening" - No Officer - Just my loving Jeep.

Please report back. Hoping the Overlands are more stable than the Rubicons.
I'm hearing a lot about adding a steering stabilizer, but read somewhere that adding one will add stress (accelerated wear) to other steering components. Any truth to that?

I found no difference in the steering when I test drove a Rubi and an Overland. They were both BAD! Air pressure was 41 on both.

I have an Overland and don't have any wandering to speak of. The steering is not sports car tight of course, but it holds a straight line with no problem. I run 38-39 psi cold

I drove a couple before picking up my Overland and they all behaved differently on the road. The other two I drive were Sport S models. One with 35s on it. The one with 35s drove better than the original sport s I drove and as well as the overland I purchased. I don’t think the steering is better or worse on any particular model. I believe it’s just the one you end up getting. I’ve had multiple 4.5 hour drives in mine and it stays straight on the road so hopefully this continues.

can you run nitrogen in any tire? Is there a benefit. Apologies for my ignorance.
Yes you can run it in any tire. The theory is that nitrogen doesn't expand and contract the way air does so the tire pressure never changes (much).

Same here. Although I’m running 36-37 psi cold on 275/65/18 Falken Wildpeak A/T.

I haven’t had any wondering since day one but my factory tires on Overland had 35# & then switched to 285/75/17 wheels/tires 24 hours later, pressure set at 32# no issues at all , but i couldn’t leave it alone & bought the Fox adjustable steering damper to have tune-ability. 5,000 miles two 300 mile trips running 75-85 mph & it is a joy.
