Just like Jeep never called the TJ Unlimited an LJ, even if they don’t call the in-line six with a turbo the “tornado”, people will start calling it that in the Jeep community.

Sold my 2020 JT couple weeks ago to be ready to order the competing JT for the Ranger raptor. Hopefully jeep will announce new package / engine around when Ford unveils in February.

That would make the most marketing sense for Jeep.

Just like when Bronco media started, jeep announced the 392.

Yes, also extreme recon package. My thinking as well. Hope it's true! Already miss my JT! Wife still has her JLU so, not totally without a jeep. :)

The idea of a basic straight 6 not covered in vacuum hoses like the TJ makes me happy in my pants. Hopefully if this does come to fruition Jeep doesn't overcomplicated the daylights out of it, straight cylinders have always been my favorite. the 300i6 from Ford is still one of my favorite engines. Absolutely nothing fancy about it, but I've seen them run for hours without an oil pan, they just can't be killed

I have an 04 Rubi with the straight six and I have never considered it covered with vacuum lines or overly complicated. Never had any issues with it, it's like a tractor engine, doesn't get too much simpler.
Now, my 79 CJ with the 304? Holy vacuum tube hell batman.

I was about to pull the plug on a JTD... but I'll wait to see what they do with this motor. If it even puts out 350 hp and 400 to, it be worth the swap. Especially if it squeezes an extra 1-2 mpg more than current 3.6 v6. I'll be all over it.

So February......I hope so . I have a Tacoma but I really want to get into a Gladiator. I just want to wait until the new engine is out before I jump ship

The value of the 3.6 trucks will go down for sure. Nobody will want the "old" minivan engine

I think you will see it in the Dodge hot rod cars, Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee, and Ram 1500 before Jeep. They may even wait until model refresh. They have been talking about all those for some time, and Jeep just gets tossed in there = not highest priority. On the plus side, if it goes down that way, the new I-6 will have been out a while so you'll know if it's good.

The reality is that most buyers don’t know there’s a difference. The value of Wrangler Unlimiteds and Gladiators should hold a greater percentage of initial value over almost all other vehicles regardless.

It would be a nice option. Especially with a turbo. Crossing my fingers.
