It started on 540 eat bound. I thought it was random road rage at first. I tried to evade and took the glenwood exit by angus barn and it continued from there. It was late at night, so no one was on the road.

I can’t get into any more details than that.
Holy shit. I'm only a few minutes away from that exit. That sucks, but glad you are ok.

They have no location pings after me inquiring with Sirius Guardian. They are no longer trying to locate the vehicle as it expires after 5 days. Seems that this too is easy to remove/disable. Only thing left to do is fight with insurance now about how much I will lose from the theft and what is left owing. :(
Gap insurance? If so, should cover it all.

I just hope they were caught. Glad you're safe

I’m not sure what it is about Gladiators, but mine has almost been stolen twice. Once, when it we brand new, I happened to roll up when they just got it running, but still locked and then three weeks ago in an attempted car jacking. I got away. My Jeep has bullet holes in it.
I hope they found the SOB...Certainly justified use of deadly force for self defense for anyone in that situation.

I was in Raleigh around 2007 or so...We were on our way to Myrtle beach and stayed over a day and night in Raleigh. My Lady Friend was told it was a nice place. It seemed "quaint enough we walked around the down-town area which was trying to make a comeback at the time. There was a theater and some small museums. We went to this Irish restaurant right down there, I wasn't happy, I asked the waitress why I couldn't find much meat in my Shepard's pie lol. But I didn't realize it was so dangerous at the time.

Raleigh isn’t dangerous. It was a freak occurrence. Most of the crime stays in SE and NE Raleigh and E Durham. The rest of the area is very nice. You should see downtown now. So much to do compared to even ten yrs ago. I’ve never felt unsafe walking around downtown Raleigh at night and I’ve done it a lot.

I’m not sure what it was like in 2007. I moved to the area in 2013. Downtown Durham in 2013 and Raleigh in 2015.

Edit:
It happened three weeks ago, it’s still under investigation. I probably shouldn’t have even posted those pics.

crazy its also bad up here in Brampton area. I have 3 jeeps and I've put air-tags on all 3 of them. If they use it to track me I'll use it to track them :)

You need another garage for the third now! ;) But seriously, I know that B-Town is also getting hit with car thefts lately... Stay safe!

So I saw this on reddit, talking about a Compass that someone attempted to steal but didnt finish

A-" I'm leaning towards theft attempt. I've seen this type of thing on a hellcat. They disconnect the horn, break the windows, break in. The one I witnessed they removed some sort of junction connector. I'm assuming Dodge has a loophole where they bypass security and program keys with ignition off. How else do you steal keyless systems nowadays?"

B"- I program keys and the newer dodge chrysler and jeeps do program new proximity remotes with the ignition off. "

B- "there is still a security pin but these are the only vehicles, that I have dealt with, that let you pull it without turning the ignition on. I don’t know if it was an oversight but you just need to jumper some wires. Most vehicles require an existing programmed key. "

Sounds nice - and we did feel very safe when we were down there (that is why I was surprised)...I am glad it was a "One-oFF"...These one offs seem to happen more these days in many parts of the country...Our community had a car jacking at gun point right in traffic in the early afternoon maybe 20 miles south of me in a quant sea-shore type town about a year ago. Made the news given it was such a rare event.

I call these one offs "Rouge-Waves", obviously they can happen anywhere, and they do.

Stay safe Brother!

Problem is ... No iphone.
There is Android based equivalents like "Tile" and Samsung has their proprietary SmartTag that I personally use. I have one squirreled away in both my Gladiator and my wife's vehicle. Use them also when traveling in my check in luggage. Pretty neat bit of tech.

Now that I'm back on patrol for the summer I'm hearing a lot more stolen JL/JTs come across the radio. Went ahead and snagged a faraday box from Amazon.
