I was just debating with myself on getting a locking gas cap or not. Well...it's now in my cart. Bummer.. I hope you can get the tank pulled and drained easily. That really sucks.

And there were some that questioned why a locking gas cap was one of the first purchases I made for the new truck.

It's really only a problem when you start losing the debate to yourself.

You will have to drop the tank since it's not into the pump yet. Remove the fuel pump assembly and drain the tank, then rinse the tank with clean gasoline (not water) and dispose of that fuel too. Be sure to flush the filler neck to get all the sugar out of it. You will need to take the tainted fuel to hazmat disposal, so start collecting a bunch of containers to store and transport it all.

Refill with clean fuel and you should be okay.

You can also call your insurance and pay your deductible to have a shop do all this after towing in the truck. Either way, call and file a police report, it's a crime to tamper with a motor vehicle - what would be hilarious is if they were charged with tampering with the emissions control system for adding sugar to the Evap system.

Is there ”backflow” flap in the tank end of the fill hose? Maybe the sugar is now only in the fill hose ?

Diesel does have the flap, not sure is it 100% closed.
