Are they both the same install as just pop them in. The Timbren seems like it bolts in and has a spacer if needed. Is this correct?

How is your ride quality with the Sumo springs without a load?

I’m running a 3.5 inch lift. Will these work?
I saw on the SS website they have two different models, one for 0-2" lift, and one for 3-4" lift. Second one is longer

I didn’t see that. I only saw one size for gladiator. I ordered them. Regardless I have bump stop extensions

1000 or the 500? Guys do both front and rear?
Thoughts on mix, 500 front, 1000 rear?

I ordered the 500# blue ones yesterday. They had a promo code JEEPBETTER and got 20% off plus free shipping. I got a tracking number the same day. Good service from Supersprings.com
https://www.supersprings.com/shop/ssr-407-40/
Stay tuned I should have them by 3/31/21 and let ya know what I think of them. Spoke to Hector on the phone.

You said it was a rough ride w/sumo springs and no load..

unless im missing something that would mean yours were in use often..but thats not how bump stops work (as far as i know atleast) theyre in place and not contacting the frame so they shouldn’t be having any effect on the ride quality unless theyre in use and under load..which was not what the fellas asked.

Unless your talking about the sumo springs inserts.

They replaced the bumpstops. But the amount of travel until you were on them was pretty small. So you could definitely feel them with no load on rough roads.

When I put them in my Taco a few years ago it lifted the back about 1/2". Yes it rode a little more stiff, but felt like a dream when towing or loaded. I don't have much tongue weight with my camper, 249# but when you load the bed with camping stuff it adds up so I'll start with the 500# helpers.

I won't know if they touch the axle till I get them in. There supposed to clear by an inch or so.

interesting. Almost makes me wonder if it’s worth having them and not installing bump stop extensions. That way you’re not always having them make contact when they’re not necessarily needed

thanks for clarifying

We installed SUMOs on our built out Promaster 159E. We chose the Yellows because our van was running at almost max load.

The Sumos did the job. They added support to the rear and the kept the front from swaying and diving in turns.

That said; there is a rebound effect when using this type of product.
This effect is noticed when under load and when making initial contact and progressing through the return on the compression.

It's not horrible, but it's there.

Think, shocks that feel blown, but only on the rebound and not compression.

Again, these SUMOs transformed our van into a drivable vehicle, especially since the loads were constant, it was tall and would take huge hits of wind on open highways, and isn't a natural cornering machine. So, for us, while the SUMOs did have some shortcomings, they provided much more benefit.

On a Jeep, they'd be great for towing, but... If you off-road, you'll likely lose some flex and possibly have a more bouncy ride as the SUMOs will engage much earlier than a normal bump stop.
