5 more ESS lights since dealer visit #2. Bringing it back in on the 21st for visit #3. Again, I own a business were we sell big ticket items to about 200 new clients a year. If I ever had launched a new product where the primary function doesn't work, I am pretty sure we would be out of business. Maybe FCA can get a government bailout to help them hire someone that is competent enough to fix this problem.

I played around a bit today and did a series of starts and stops and let the ESS shut of the engine drove until the ESS reset and said “ready“ then stopped-engine off-start again. I did this about 6 times with no problem. I usually turn the ESS off when I drive but I usually drive no more than 10 miles-if that-a day. I’m trying to be optimistic but I’m really losing confidence that my vehicle is really fixed. BTW still haven’t heard back from the Service Manager about whether I should bring it in for the “Service Stop/Start” lamp illuminating.

That too bad. It’s interesting that your service report does not reference the TSB 18-053-20. Unless your dealer has already done that software update I would think that they may not have addressed the real issue. I don’t know what the software related to TSB 18-053-20 does but it is supposed to be the remedy for the P0300 misfire issue at this point. I have also gotten the message and light concerning the ESS that you show in this pic. When I turn the engine off and turn it back on it goes away. My truck is running fine so I’m going to ride this out unless/until I get the MIL Indicator Lamp (Check Engine Light) coming back on or I hear otherwise from the service department. I contacted the Service Manager at my dealer this morning and let him know that I have gotten the “Stop/Start Unavailable; Service Stop/Start System” message and light 2 x since I picked the vehicle up on Wednesday. I have not heard back from him yet.
No they have not done that software update unless they forgot to note it since the service advisor does not do a good job. But I will let him know if I have to go visit again. Same here if i turn it off and back on it goes away sk i will also keep using it like that as long as the MIL does not turn on. Thanks for your help everyone. Hope the is a solution for this soon.

I had my 3rd “Stop/Start Unavailable; Service Stop/Start System” message and light today less than a mile from my house. Again, I stopped, turned the engine off and back on and it went away. I guess I’ll write that service manager again about it. This is after the TSB 18-053-20 software update and the 4th time it went in for service.

I have not been on the forum lately (which I had seen all this) and just had the problem with both the Autostart/stop light and P0300 OBD code. I have a Sport Max Tow with 2500 miles when this occurred.
I just got it back yesterday after just a day and half. Invoice references Bulletin #18-053-20 and shows they completed flash update. They tested the batteries and claim “no problem found” on the Auto Start/ Stop.
I have only driven it about 25 miles so far but no recurrence so far.

Guessing the software update only changed some software monitoring variances for ESS? Seems like it’s not a fix for a true misfire ? ‍♂ And I’ve mentioned this before I pulled rich codes and not a cel but @! Would trigger (did this while tuning my truck ) . So there are some thresholds they probably tried to dial back and maybe it will work for some but not all
