I was supposed to get mine back this morning but after all the troubleshooting with the ecm, dealership took it for a drive and got same error codes.

So they are trying something new tomorrow.

Today just turned over 1000 miles on Gladiator #2. Put 500 plus miles on it this past week. No CELs or Auto Stop/Start malfunctions either. So far so good.
Just out of curiosity have you compared your VINs and build dates? My build dates and VIN were very close. The vehicles were pretty much identical... and engine blocks probably came off the same run. My service director is admitting there was a production error involving piston cylinders. The main link is compression loss on left bank. Don’t understand why all vehicles affected haven’t been identified and recalled.

I guess it would depend on how the compression is being lost. Valves staying open or cylinder rings not seating. If it is cylinder rings not seating that would lend credence, to the driving hard when new, helps phenomenon.

I remember early post in May where guys were saying they broke theirs in hard and the issues resolved themselves. At the time it was thought to be software adaptive learning issue.

I imagine it could be a bit of both. The fueling and timing tables are better in the agresive driving maps. If there is. Ring seal issue, heat and speed will help if done correctly, better fueling will also help. Light load and detonation is a surefire way to turn marginal ring seal into blow by

Might as well add myself to this thread. I’m also a member of the p0300 club. First CEL on around 900 miles. Had the software update that was supposed to fix the issues. CEL #2 at 1290 miles. Dealership can’t replicate after clearing the code and has now opened up a STAR case. I’m not very hopeful.

2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland - Build Date 10/19. I bought my 2020 Jeep Gladiator on June 1, 2020. The check engine light came on and I took it to the shop on 06/18/2020. P0300 - misfire on multiple cylinders. Tech said it was probably 'bad gas' reset the light and sent me on my way. The Gladiator had less than 400 miles. Since then the check engine light has come up 5 Times - along with the A! Service Stop Start message. The dealer did not put in work orders on the first two visits, so I only have documentation for 2 visits....although the second work order does indicate that it is the third time for the P0300 code. Jeep Wave escalated my case and it was rejected for buy back (assumed it would be on the first visit). The rep carefully made it sound like the A! Stop Start was the primary issue and reported that 'the dealer said that this was normal with a cold start'. Note she did not say that Chrysler or the technicians said it was normal. The Jeep Manual clearly states that this is a warning light and that it requires services. She said I could take it to another dealer for a second opinion...HELL NO....I purchased from this dealer and should not have to travel 30 miles to take my Jeep in for service. The service department is doing all it can....the issue is that Jeep manufactured a bunch of overlands with bad engines. I said I would call my dealer and take it back in today and reminded her that the CHECK Engine light is on again. I took it back to the dealer, the code today is P0306...misfire on cylinder 6. Texas Lemon Law - same problem unresolved 4 times in two years....I think we will get there soon. I am so disappointed in Jeep...Wish I had my plain Jane 2013 Wrangler Sport back....trading it in was a HUGE mistake.

Some relatively good news for a Friday evening - at least for me. I drove 750 miles today from BHM to south of SRQ. Mostly highway between 70 and 80mph. Fluid temps all ran between 195 and 205F. Oil pressure at speed was 31psi.

No faults set even after refueling. Had a top speed of 90+ on an open stretch and, with the exception of a loose steering “gear”, a good ride. Average MPG, according to the gauge, was a respectable 22.3mpg.

Based on this experience today, I’m pretty confident that there’s no serious mechanical problem. But there’s always time for one!

I would agree, mine does not have mechanical I believe and after I have modfied the programming it seems to be doing great.

Detonation melts and breaks pistons, normally little impact on rings. It blows away the barrier layer in the cylinder exposing the top of the aluminum piston to temps above the melting point. Detonation is the collision of two flame fronts as super-sonic speed,. The sound is literally the "boom" resonating with the block - "ping".
That intense collision can also break pistons (the rings themselves being protected until the piston breaks)

The rings will be 'broken in' extremely quickly on modern engines - in under 100 miles. Boring, honing, and ring manufacturing is so precise all "break-in" does is wear of the microscopic high spots. A few heavy accelerations and it's done. (based on info from Perfect Circle - maker if piston rings)
Heat doesn't help - high differences in the pressure above and below the rings are what force them out hard against the cylinder wall, accelerating the "wear-in) or wearing off the microscopic high points. The rings themselves don't need to wear, nor do the cylinders, only the microscopic highs, or "roughness" you can't see.
Even at 100,000 miles you should still see the ring machine marks and the cylinder hone cross-hatch pattern.

Detonation damage on a V8 I worked on - 24,000 actual miles -

So just left the dealer. Its confirmed cylinder 6 is misfiring and NOT throwing codes. Does it at almost every cold start now. Does not get worse under load.

I have an open case with Jeep. Really starting to distrust this jeep.

I have been driving a renegade for a week and it's like a clown car to me. If the dealership had told me that they were going to have it more than just the weekend, I would be on the Harley all week but I was afraid they would call mid week and say " swap back to your truck".

On a happy note, my slush mats and license plate are now at the dealership so hopefully it's the last time I have to go there for a while. Their service dept is piss poor!
Im driving a Dodge Grand Caravan...

I had my Gladiator for 85 days and it has been in the shop for 55 days and counting. At this point the dealership I’m working with now knows the deal with this and they are openly telling that the best I can do is to settle with FCA for a buy back. I had to send my Gladiator 4 times to the shop, they have done everything possible and the misfire keeps coming back after 25-30 miles every time I get the car back. I have a hearing on September 10. Also the FCA overall response an this issue has been beyond awful. Total lack of will to solve the problem and been doing everything possible to drag this and avoid doing whats right . Sad that I have to go to the last resource and have to compel them to do what they have to do.

Jesus F-ing Christ, stop the bs already. I wasn’t contacted by anyone from Jeep cares because essentially Jeep doesn’t care. Stop trying to save Jeeps reputation here, everyone knows what’s going on.
