I'll be trading in my 2016 Civic, the wife got an 18 JLU 6 months ago and got me hooked on Jeep. Between that and hating borrowing a truck to do any kind of work, we will become a Jeep family. Pricing will decide which packages I look at, would love a Rubicon, but realise I wont use it to it's full potential 99% of the time.
Ahhh... the age old borrowing/asking a buddy with a truck for help. I am a sucker for a pretty face but my JT will strictly be for camping and off roading but I am sure I can be convinced to help on occasion...lol. Also easy to get hooked on Jeep :tumbleweed: :jk::tumbleweed:

I assume a large percentage of JT buyers will be switching from Wrangler. Im currently leasing a JKUR which is due to return when the JT becomes available. Cant wait for a JTR with 37s!

1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Its a great adventure SUV. Mitsubishi actually has a really good 4wd system. It does okay with light offroading, it does better with a lift. I am excited to have something I can do serious offroading in and can tow my small camper with out borrowing my dad's Ram. I however doesn't hold its value (because Mitsubishi) and leaks oil bad I have had to replace gaskets in it 3 times and now it is leaking again (because Mitsu-Be-sh##ty). Other than that it has been reliable, but is knocking from a motor mount now (common issue on these). The mount broke at 180k it's at 190k now, I bought it with 90k for 4k, it's my second car.
It has a KBB private sell value of 2000-2500. Probably sell it on Craigslist to add to my down payment in which I already have 3000 saved for it.

Trading in a paid off 2014 JKU.
This. I too will give up my Jeep "Wagon" to go to a truck bed and towing capacity. While I would love a 2 door JL Rubicon, I don't think the Rubicon is for me when it comes to a truck and I figure it'll be Sport + Max Tow and whatever else I can fit before it gets out of hand. I have been toying the idea of an Overland if only they would do a Max Tow there... I want the wide axles and 4:10 gears... so that'll be the determining factor. I just want the Overland for long distance traveling creature comforts.

@eternus , what creature comforts are you speaking of on the overland, that aren't available on the sport s?

I wish the overland came with optional rubicon fenders, lol

Leather (with the rear seat armrest), extra charging ports in the center console, factory LED option, 8.4" head unit with access to "off road pages." All the stuff that is also available in the Rubicon... but I don't want the Rubi drive train stuff (and price that comes with it.)

These Overland comforts are just recent thoughts... i'm sure I'll go back and forth.

I wish i could get the rubicon look, with the overland off-road bits. I don't need rock-track, sway bar disconnect. I would probably prefer LSDs, instead of lockers. Wonder if the rubicon fenders bolt onto the overland.

Based on the JLs, you can buy the Rubicon Fenders (which are the same, right?) for about $500 a pair... I think only the front are high clearance anyway. I know you can bolt them on a sport, so am sure you could for a Overland. The questionable part... paint match vs black.

Speaking of the look, I think another must have is rock rails or something along the bottom edge. I sure wish I could just flip through the accessory catalog now. (c:

I think those are all options on the rubicon.
The sport s also has some of these as options.
I would get the overland if you plan on overlanding, or a loaded sport s. You don't need lockers or disconnecting sway bars, but the LSD option that the sport and overland have would be useful.

I'll be selling my absolutely amazing, totally original and unmolested, rust-free '82 Scrambler...without a doubt one of the nicest in the U.S. I bought it new in 1982, sold it in 1996, and persuaded the buyer to sell it back to me about 3 years ago. And I'll also be selling/trading my '16 Canyon SLT. Have clear titles on each, so that should put a sizeable dent in the cost of the new Gladiator.

That is sweet. I would do anything to hold on to that scrambler if I were you.
