The Gladiator fob monstrosity is one of the silliest things I have held in a long time. The switch blade actual key randomly opens in your pocket, the panic button is raised and set to a hair trigger so it randomly goes off and the device itself is nearly the size of a Prius. To make the device easier to carry and less invasive I chose to replace it with an AJT Designs key fob. A few comments:
- Should be an option from the factory (or the dealer) to use this style fob in the first place.
- The video instructions are an absolute necessity to watch.
- The transponder chip is a nuisance to remove and you need to be really careful not to cut yourself.
- Installing the battery and closing the cover is an exercise in frustration, but after 25 minutes of struggling, I finally made it work.

Bottom line after using my new custom fob? I love it. It sits in my pocket comfortably, there is nothing poking out the side and the panic button is now recessed so it will not go off when I bend over! https://www.ajtdesign-llc.com/online-store/Jeep-c70213042

The only thing holding me back from this is the flip out real key. I run doors off every chance I get and lock my back seats and console. Keep my sunglasses in the console so I use that key a lot. I do despise the size of this thing for sure.

I would definitely recommend checking out the Threedom Key Fob over the AJT design. Personal preference but I love my threedom fob. Maybe the best upgrade I've made so far. It is smaller, lighter, easier to assemble, and has a good key solution.

Agreed with this. I bought my threedom key fob a few months ago and absolutely love it.

I will try that also, Did you know the design of the fob is n the style of the old red gas can that rides on the back of old Jeeps
That's funny - I suppose the fob does look like a jerry can... nearly the same size too! ;)

Those Threedom fobs do look really nice. I do like the perceived security of the set screws on the AJT, but getting the battery inside is a pain. I'm going to carry my key separately when I have the doors off.

When you built the Threedom Fob did you find a good way to extract the RFID transponder from the factory key? It was wedged in pretty tightly on mine and I destroyed the factory fob removing it.

Are either of these waterproof? I ran my old JK key through the wash a few times and it was fine. I could not switch if it were not sealed well.....

Would it hurt anything if I hide the physical key on the jeep somewhere in case of an emergency? I saw someone mention RFID in the keep but I dont think that is a thing.

Why are so many people bent out of shape about this fob? It's not really any bigger than most. Do you guys have tiny women pockets or something? Sure my key has popped out a few times but I juts flip it right back, it's not like it's hard or complicated. This is 1 of those things I just really don't get from all you that constantly complain about this fob. I know size is the biggest thing complained about and the pic OP posted isn't really realistically smaller. WTF guys? If the fob somehow makes you feel innadequate as a man just do what normal people do and lift your truck more lol.
