I actually did the same thing messing around in Photoshop and I much prefer the look of adjusted rear door. As much as I prefer the look I think back to my Comanche days where trying to find replacement parts for Comanche specific items that shared no similarity with the XJ's was a complete nightmare. For most of us once they have seen this image they won't be able to unsee it.

I also did the edit. Looks way better. And way better than I expected. Cost of tooling over the life of the vehicle vs how much more we'd have to pay.... I think I'd willingly pay the difference as a buyer. Most people will never know though. It makes sense for them to reuse the doors.

If you are going to do that, also fix the rear door windows! No need for the stationary portion if the door is straight across the bottom. I actually think that is the thing that bothers me the most. The rear passengers could have much better windows!

Just messing around with Photoshop to see what it might look like if they mimicked the lines of the front door, and I much prefer it, what do you think?
took me like 3 minutes to understand what you changed. looks nice! That actually makes the factory rear door look stupid. lol

Now I have to figure out how to build those doors and mod the body to fit. That looks so much nicer.

I think it was Bruiser conversions that would chop a front door and graft it to the rear door on their JK truck conversions. I remember there was a video about how they did it before.

That's a LOT of work just to change that corner of the rear door.... reminds me of the type stuff that Chip Foose would do on his Overhauling show.

I sit in front, and no one I know has ever, ever walked up to me and said, "Hey, don't the lines on the back door bug the crap out of you? It's like the design engineers went to lunch and forgot to finish your rig when they returned". I'm very content.
