Keep your diesel fuel clean and lubricated. I use Walmart 2 stroke oil, 1oz = 1gal diesel. Our northern diesel is very dry, so it will work in the cold. 2 stroke oil keeps the pump lubricated. Take the smog crap off and you have a 1/4 million mile (or more) engine.

Title says it all.
I’m married, 52 years old with 2 kids ages 21 and 23.
I drive 10 miles round trip to work and my hunting lease is about 15 miles round trip.
I currently have a 2008 Tundra.
Your thoughts?
Is the Gladiator Rubicon the smoothest rides out of the Gladiators? I’m leaning towards that one for the little bit of towing I do.

Another question: If I buy a Gladiator Rubicon and keep it stock, realistically what am I looking MPG wise if I drive normal? Gas not diesel.

That's the silly thing about it, everyone repeats the unreliable story but give no actual reason why other than the fuel pump recall, or they point to issues in the 1st and 2nd gen Rams.

Or the V8 boomers start ranting about how the EPA made them unreliable by using the emissions stuff that Europe has been using for decades.

I still haven't had anyone show me anything that makes them unreliable other than what their feelings are about it.
To be fair, I was being vague to avoid a confrontation. They’ve got fuel pump, derating, def system, and several other issues. They’re an ill conceived diesel without any of the reliability of what people want in a diesel. If a gladiator had a Cat 3208, I’d buy 7 of them. But this silly thing. Nope. They’re more trouble than they’re worth. I won’t be stranded because of def. And I’m not breaking the law to make an already dirty-ass drivetrain dirtier, just to make it reliable-er. Diesel should be illegal. It’s terrible for the environment in its natural form. When it’s got emissions equipment, it’s still likely worse than gas, but isn’t reliable. And they’re temperamental in heat and cold. I don’t see the draw. I’m glad they stopped selling them.

I have 1500 miles, plus or minus, on a 2025 Glad Rubicon, bone stock. My mileage has gone up from 16.5 to 19.5. Some local beer runs, some wheeling, and maybe 800 road miles.

In the non-emissuons state they would be killer reliable. This would also reduce the amount of electronics in these diesels. Gas can be just as dirty if it wasn't for egrs and catalytic converters . Euro diesels are much cleaner the fuel is more refined and cetane is much higher near 60 ours in USA 40 and less sulfur and ash in Euro diesel ours is loaded with it . Theirs has much higher lubricity ours is very low and often additives are a requirement.
I do concede the diesel in the italian 3.0 vihant moratori is a diesel designed to Euro standards of fuel being forced to use American fuel (dirty) and EGR etc.. and it literally just cant take it.

What bothers me is that we no longer “need” diesel. When I see a rolling coal pickup with a 12” tail pipe, I’m just as angry as when I see a drunk driver. They’re just killing people more slowly and passively, or cowardly. But diesel delete people don’t care about anyone but themselves. It’s time someone said it. Oh yeah. It’s not the first time I have. But I’m counting the seconds until I’m banned from this thread for expressing my opinion. :)

Interesting. I was the exact opposite. As a coach, I wanted a truck that did Jeep things. But I appreciated the Jeep things so much that we also bought a Wrangler.
We wanted a truck, and the Gladiator fit everything we wanted, plus being able to get naked and join a Jeep family.

I owned 2 of them never had EGR issues and as I discovered early on run the guts out of em and pull with them tow it keeps that EGR burnt out and the map sensor needed a spray off every 20-30k . Had a water pump go out but was easily fixed by dealer at the time .
After 100000 miles, my gas has gone through the EGR valve and cooler.

The problem is the USA won't redo fuel standards here because it would drastically raise diesel prices. The coal rollers are sometimes forced to do as such in order to get an engine that just won't stay out of the mechanics shop for DEF or catalytic or EGR issues.
In the oil and Gas industry I'm in where diesels are idled for long periods of time this has occurred often except in some of the smaller companies they have deleted the trucks. The bigger companies don't care and just replace the trucks with new ones.

Let’s just go back to leaded fuel. It’s more powerful. Who cares if it’s terrible for the environment. Planes still use it. We might as well stop caring.

Going to vary person to person, but coming from a Tundra myself, it will improve.

I think I average around 16.5 to 17.5, Ive seen as low as 14.5. I can still get 21 though if its an all highway trip and that's with 35s. Every time I head out to Bend Oregon I love seeing it creep up to 20-21 while going through Santiam Pass.

Nah, they just need to stop trying to short cut the engineering.

I’m 69 and still riding a new Harley as fast as it will go (occasionally).

Just how long do you want to live, anyway?
As long as the Good Lord will give me.

A simple Google search pulls up 8 common issues with the Pentastar
Be careful of those because Giggle goes by forum complaints as much as anything, and, they lump them all together, even though the gen 1 and current generation are very different engines.
You have to sort through the weeds to find the good information.
I can't say that there are "8 common issues" with the current 3.6 Pentastar.
The only common one I know of is the cam/follower issue. Nothing else is really common to this generation.
