Just my two cents it all depends on what you are going to use it for. I have a 22 JTRD and my wife has a 23 JL 392. The JT we are building it out for overlanding and rock crawling to be able to go anywhere and do anything. The 392 will be built to do mild rock crawling. The 392 is a nice car but I believe some others have mentioned that the transfer case on it is locked in 4wd which has been known to cause issues. In my wife's the service 4wd light will randomly come on and when it does for whatever reason it also affects the steering and it becomes very hard to steer. We did have it locked in 2wd using a tazer but with it locked in 2wd it wouldn't let us us the lockers and it took us a minute to remember that we had it locked in 2wd so after that we left in 4wd. I don't think you can go wrong with either one it's just more about personal choice and which body style is going to suite your needs better. I also have two GSD's which is one of the reasons I have the JT so all the hair stays outside the cab.
I need to set up some sort of cooling system (other than fans) for my GSDs in the back. It shouldn't be difficult, but I just haven't gotten around to it. I get super paranoid with them on long trips in the summer, and I don't have anything set up to monitor the temperature back there...yet. All easy fixes. On another note, I'm doing a 60% delete in the cab for one of their crates, so we will see how that goes.

But yeah, I've given up on trying to manage the hair in the cab.

I've got nothing valuable to add except, 392 GLADIATOR!🤩

the rarity of a gladiator with a 392 adds 100 bonus points. You're saving $5K AND you've got an installer who has a great reputation for quality and service. Vs.... stealerships with spotty workmanship, spotty knowledge and spotty willingness to honor warranties? Add the toys you've already put on the JT and personally, its a no-brainer.
I also have a GSD that rides along daily, I did the 60% delete with a homebuilt platform. He's got no crate and the restraint belt connected to his harness is really annoying to both him and I. I debate daily on how much he needs to be secured back there.

Oh...the crate is for the truck, not the dog. My boys can bounce off a brick wall – they are high-drive Schutzhund dogs that like to chomp; they literally tore the back window out of my RLD canopy. The crate is more for me than them tbh. Jokes aside, it is safer for the dogs as well.

The deposit has been sent, so it's a waiting game now. Like I said, I feel guilty sharing this as a 'build story' as I am just a financial backer, but I know people are interested when these swaps pop up. I will say that the thought of the 426 started creeping in, but I'm trying to be a little more responsible with my horrible financial decisions (and the wheels are already turning on the 392).

Good choice on going with the swap. I’ve looked at the 392 wrangler and can’t get past the clutch pack driving the front wheels. I prefer mechanical connections.

Correct.

You need a GSD, you're one dog away from the holly trinity.

I hope to someday own a Beau. I was in line but only one local breeder with no set dates at the time, ended up with another GSD.

How much weight does the 392 and trans add? Does it leave enough carrying weight for your needs?

Transmission is an even swap and motor with an iron block is probably another 100 lbs. Easily resolved with some springs

When I had my hemi installed in Feb. 2021, the shop put in some front springs for the diesel Gladiator. I already had installed a 1.25" leveling kit (steal bumper and winch and most lift kits retain the factory rake and I wanted level) on the front and they swapped those over as well. Could possibly remove the .25" puck as it may be just a bit high in the front. All depends on how it is sitting.

Amw told me the hemi swap adds about 400 lbs over the 3.6.

Correct.

These two are plenty! Our Mal is super chill for a Mal. The Beauc is only 5 mos old, pushing 70lbs and he is full of piss and vinegar! Great pup though!

And the new Wrangler is bumper to bumper.
IDEAL would be a CPO Wrangler - 7/100 powertrain warranty.
Stellantis warranties are about as valuable as the paper they are printed on. If warranty was a priority I'd 100% rather deal with the quality shop that did the amw swap than any dealer.

On the AMW site I see 35k for them to do the swap. So If I buy a brand new base gladiator for 30k then I could be in a 392 for 65k? Then I'm guessing you could get a pretty good price for selling a brand new v6? 4-5k?
